Exclamation best tip to clean your rims, personal experience.

hey guys i have just tried a new thing that is so cheap and you can clean it DIY and with free moneys $, maybe some of you have tried it, but ill just share just in case

first you get a oven spray:

secondly spray on the rim and make sure is fully covered and leave until the foam goes off and start to fall:

then get a scrubbing pad: NOTE: DO NOT USE STEEL SCRUBBING PADS IT WILL SCRATCH SURFACE OF RIMS:

scrub through the rims and do this step twice:

NOTE: PLEASE PUT ON GLOVES AS IT MIGHT IRRITATE YOUR SKIN AS IT HAS DONE TO MINE, MAKE SURE YOU RINCE THE RIMS ALL OVER AFTER FINISHING AND YOU WILL SURELY SEE A DIFFERENCE see as attached pictures of what i have achieved. Before And After

That's a hardcore chemical right there.. I wouldn't do that! Its not that hard to clean the rims. A bucket of water or hose and some sponge. That's all i use for the last 10 years..

I won't even use wheel cleaner. The wheels are painted...soap and water has always worked with a bristle brush. If you are that worried about them staying clean...try Wheel Wax.

Lol I almost never use a sponge. I just stick my cheap little power washer up close and most of the dirt and dust just comes right off. Scrubbing only comes into play when I haven't washed my wheels in a really long time.

So many better options than oven cleaner.

When I wash the car I wash my wheels first with dedicated tools (sponge/cloth/bucket) using car wash soap.

I've used wheel wax, but lately detail wheels with clay bar followed with Griots 1-step paint sealant. It lasts longer than wax, and has a bit of polish so they really sparkle. Most wheels are painted so treating them like the rest of your car is appropiate.

I use a wheel brush, wheel woolley (allows me to scrub the barrels), and a third bucket with a dash of my regular zymol auto soap. However I'm upgrading to AMMO Plum and AMMO Brute soon which is possibly one of the best wheel regimens out there! However, that is only for my once-a-month wash and detail, on my other rinses between major washes I do the same as Lemon, just use a power-washer up close. My worry about the oven cleaner would be its long term effect on your brakes.

Well if you did it once it's probably ok but in the future i would recommend what other guys said. After you wash the rims you could apply some wheel wax it will keep brake dust from sticking to the rims.

I wash mine at most twice a year by physically removing each wheel off the car, and that too, only to rewax inside the rims even though they have a very faint coating of brake dust. Actually I clean entire car paintwork, chrome and wheels each day I drive and before parking in the garage (rainy days I do it inside the garage); yeah I'm really crazy about these things. I use some awesome Swissvax car wax even on the wheels, followed by Swissvax wheel wax (I need to order more wax). Unless I go through a muddy puddle, virtually nothing sticks to the wheels; I mean how much dust accumulates in a day's 110 mile round trip, despite I clean wheels with only a dry cloth and they continue to look brand new every day. Don't even ask how many times I detail/wax the car, considering I keep buying wax directly from Swissvax, since no detailing store sells it now
