Is it safe to disconnect the ECU & SAM for too long

Good day everybody

I was facing "Coolant visit workshop" problem this days with no signal from the fan cable (W211223 E280 CDI ). i was able to find the problem which was a short circuit that burn chip in the Front SAM fuse box .I just order it from Ebay and would like to know if it is safe to leave the cars without the sam and the battery disconnected .

Knowing that my neighborhood are good in opening botnet to steal batteries . i dont want to wait for my ECU to disappear is it safe to disconnect it and keep it till i have the part.

Thanks in advance for your advices

SK

Disconnect all batteries and you can keep your ECU and SAM out for years---however that disconect will cause a fault that once reconnected should be erased/cleared!!

Good day

After receiving my new front SAM i replaced it put back the battery and everything . the fan is working ,AC , but now i have ESP / ABS DISPLAY FAULT - VISIT WORKSHOP error .

Details:

1. Malfunction disappears when switched off. However comes on when engine is turned on.
2. Gear shift is locked and can be released by Unlocking the lever. However car is HARD to drive and so is the steering wheel.
3 . speedometer not working .

Please any help is highly appreciated .

Simply use DAS Xentry or equal--- do a quick test and then erase all the faults!!

Hi i have done that using (ESitronic Boch) and what comes out is :

p2209 CAN ESP timeout
p2241 CAN Trasmission control Timeout
p2333 Cruise Control
P0500 Speed sensor
P2248 Alternator

Now the battery is empty . but before buying a new regulator i would like to solve the ESP/ABS problem first .

Remember that the main benefit of a CAN is that a sensor places the message on the CAN and all the control modules that accept the data to preform their function. The sensor does not have to communicate with each control module---saves much time!!

Therefore what is typically done is that all the faults are noted but then erased. The car is run around and a second quick test is preformed----what faults return??

That is your next step!!

That is what i did . when we started it was more than 2pages . and then we cleared , drove it and then this is what came out of it . Can the water spoil the speed sensor ?

What im thinking is that is might be the battery voltage . i have seen a lot of error messages on low voltage . i will charge it fully and see . it is a new Bosh 100A . the old one was a 70A battery . maybe it is not compatible with the BCM . since i put the new one i have changed 3 times the regulator of the alternator .

i hope that it is nothing serious cause actually i have spent more than the price of the car.

Hey you gota have all the basics(voltage, fuses and relays) covered before you start to look at the real issues---you will get fooled everytime and time is money!!
