climate control fan whine?

does anyone here have a high piched whine from the climate control fan when it's at stage 4 and above? i'm trying to figure out if the sound is normal or if i should have the dealer take a look and listen.

i have an e320 with dual zone climate control (the non digital one). thanks.

this has happened to me about 4 times in the first 2000 miles.. not very often. I complained when I took it in for service, but lo and behold, they couldn't duplicate the prob. My M3 had this, as did my Audi A4... damn Germans can't build an HVAC system for shi*t.

Why complain about what Germans cannot built... simply buy one of those cheap rice cookers or "high quality" US cars... then at least you have a nice HVAC system

Sorry dude, had to give my comment on this! First buy a $50k+ car and then complain - you knew it, so be happy with it!

Guys I had a similar noise, and then realized that one of the fromt vents was mostly closed and causing the noise. Might want to check that first and make sure all of them are wide open.

i just noticed it yesterday as well (1100 miles on an '04 e320). all vents are open, and i know this noise was not there before. would be interested to learn of any resolution to this annoyance...

ease up!! i'm on our/your side.. I still buy German cars, obviously.. and I still love them all. And I would not go to a Japanese car over a fixable fan squeel.. just making mention of my experiences! peace

Be sure and check the rear console vents, as well. Mine will occasionally get rotated nearly closed after reaching for something in the rear footwell, and you'll get a high-pitched whistle at higher fan speeds.

I agree with Jim-

I had this whining noise. When I took to the dealer, I was embarrassed to learn that one of the rear seat vent controls was partially closed. Now when I hear that whine, I check and open all of the vents on the car. No whine after that.
