stupid Ipod Kit - WANT AUX 3.5MM from phone

So I went to use the little jack in the glove box for the first time using my phone and ALL of my music, turns out I have an Ipod kit - LAME. who uses ipod or iphone? The Comand will only read Ipod/Iphone from the two plugs in glove box.

Anyway, I have searched high and low how to remedy this situation. Can someone help me find the right part number for replacing the Ipod kit/Jack with a regular Jack to my Comand head unit....

2008 E350

Thanks.

aux

how did you rectify the problem. My 2008 e350 has ipod in glove box as well as aux input in back of glove box. My ipod cable broke and I wanted to use the aux input connected to my phone. When I plug it in nothing happens and the dash shows says no ipod.

I didnt take pictures but the 3.5mm jack has a cable that runs through the dash to the underside of the CD changer, its a 3 pin plug. Unlpug that end of the cable and plug it into the same size female receptacle on back of head unit.

So, in a nut shell, if plugged into CD changer, it controls iPod devices, and if plugged into the head unit/comand, it controls all others, plug the cable into one or the other for your needs. Took 20 minutes and I had to keep going back in the house to make sure I was doing the disassembly correct.

If you still need help, pm me and I'll give you my phone number

By the way, this is a FREE conversion, your car already has the parts, just unplug the cable and plug into the other hole.

It does require two size of torx bits

New here but I have the same "problem" so to speak. The ipod wires are completely frayed but all my local dealership wants to do is order another part and install that. I'd prefer to just use the aux input instead. You said it took you around 20 minutes. I'm not too experienced with these kinds of things BUT think I want to give it a go.... any way you'd be up to telling me what I'm looking for once I get in there and/or what you referenced when you did yours? Thanks!

If you want to disable the ipod kit and go back to the aux input it is very simple.
Remove the cd changer and nav unit and unplug the ipod input and find the original aux input which will be floating around back there and plug it back in.
On my car I wired them both up which is nice to have.

Nice. I got back there and got it taken care of last night. Super simple! This will hold me over until I get the new iPod cord in the mail. Thanks!

Does anyone know where i can order a new iPod cable for my 2008 Comand? My dealer wants $65 for it, and I think that's a wee bit high....

Try and get the part number and then either get it on Ebay or try some of the other online MB dealers. www.mbdirectparts.com typically has good prices, but if you just google the part number, you can sometimes find other mb dealers that sell it for a couple dollars less.

You can email the online parts place and ask them for a price. They'd probably tell you and include the part number. Too bad EPC isn't free anymore, that's what you'd use to look up a part number for a particular vin.
