3rd time I could not start my car.

This piece of **** is gonnna be returned.

I am sick and tired of this piece of **** 70K E500 not working properly.

I walked out to my car tonight and I could not even get it to recognize any key.

What the hell is this?

Battery problem?

I would like to have the use of my car at ANY time not just when it is convenient for MBUSA!

What a lame piece of ****e!!!!!

I did not pay 70K to be irritated like this!!MBUSA are you listening?

I hope so!

This is ridiculous!

It is too bad that the latest BMW looks like a turd.

Otherwise I would buy one instead of this piece of garbage!

Any dealer that knows something about MB's should be able to fix this.

It is just sooo irritating to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with a ridiculously expensive vehicle that is a boat anchor when you least expect it.

I had the battery fail a few weeks after I purchased the vehicle and I hoped that I could write off that experience as a fluke.

Unfortunately, I really had to go somewhere this evening and had no option but to call a taxicab.

For the price, I should be able to count on this vehicle as a standard of quality and reliability, instead I am left to wonder if I should have bought a 'lesser' vehicle e.g. a porsche, or "god forbid" a freaking BMW, and learned to live with the inadequacies of driving a substandard vehicle.

As of this moment, I am seriously starting to doubt the credibility of any claim that Mercedes Benz is the best you can buy.

To the contrary, I'm starting to believe that I would be better of with a Saab or Volvo, despite the lameness that I have seen from both of those manufacturers.

Maybe, but he did spend 70k.

My $60k '01 E320 has been to the dealer for problems more times than my '96 grand cherokee with 80k miles or my 01' Suburban with 40k miles (other than for routine maintanance and wear related work).

If that's the 3rd time, don't you qualify for a Lemon Law case? I hope so, and I hope you win. It would be helpful to everyone; you'd get another car, and MB would see another example of why they need to prioritize reliability.

it depends on your state, but you would be amazed how restrictive the lemon law is. Its a bunch of baloney for all but the most serious problems. My friend is a lawyer here in NY, tried to use it for a suspension problem that could not be fixed (not an MB) after 8+ visits. The lemon law applies only if the car is essentially undriveable. you can bring it back to the dealer 100 times for a minor problem, you will never win a lemon law case and get your money back or a replacement car. read the fine print for your state's law.

Now we have two vehicles with the same problems!

My Battery died completely 12 days after delivery. The car had to be towed 50 miles to the dealership. Would not jump start at all. Battery and BCM replaced along with sunroof mechanism. The dealer thought the sunroof was the drain on my battery. Dealer assures me of a 28-35 milliamp drain rate, however within 24 hours my battery protection funtion engages and convenience features are unusable. In the shop fourth time for the same issues.

Now, my key is not recognized approximately 50 percent of the time for Keyless Go.

I too invested 70K and think I have every right to expect a reliable dependable piece of equipment.

Think about the liability of a medical equipment manufacturer that released electronic equipment from the assembly line with this rate of defect!

I love Mercedes with all my heart and nothing else drives the way they do, but it's time that Mercedes realized this is NOT acceptable.

My uncle had an 04 E55 with keyless go. He had to get a new key because he lost one and they told him that in order to program the key, he should leave it in the key slot in the II position. Well he did but the battery drained. So he jumped it per the manual and after it would never hold a charge. Every morning the battery would be dead. It went to the dealer multiple times and they replaced a number of part, including the infamous gateway module, but still would drain overnight.

They did right by him and bought the car back, unfortunately he was put in the end of the cue for a replacement E55 and might not get one till next year! He ended up buying a G55 to tide him over.

Now I'm scared as heck, if my battery dies, I'm not jumping it, I'm calling the tow truck to haul it to the dealer. I suggest the same thing for everyone.

Is this only a problem with Keyless go vehicles?
I am so sorry to hear your experience, i would be soooo pissed. I have had no problems with my 04 so far after 2K miles and 3 months.

Good luck. I would find a new dealer.

I don't think keyless go has anything to do with this issue. At least that has not been identified as the culprit to date. Actually, my dealer is been surprisingly wonderful to me throughout this ordeal. They brought me a loaner when they had to tow my new car in the first time.
The shop foreman has worked late for two weeks to eliminate all possible things that could be causing the drain, and thought he had the answer when replacing the overhead console drastically reduced the drain on the battery. However, as I said, within 24 hours the battery is drained again.
My dealer has recommended that MBUSA replace my car and I have my meeting with the regional representative tomorrow. So if all things work as I have been promised - they will take back the car and order me another.
Out of a total of 38 days of ownership - the car has spent 21 of those days at the dealership - !
Incredible and UNBELIEVEABLE!

it's the BEST LOOKING you can buy for the money. i realized this after my 4th repair within 6 months. and MB knows it...they're cutting back on build/testing costs and quality.

if it takes a fleet of service guys to keep your car running when it's brand new, there's a problem.

Now that I've cooled down a bit.

I just wanted to add that the service I have received from Westmont Mercedes in Montvale IL has been exemplary.

The Roadside assistance tech was named Ron, and this is the second time he has visited me when my car would not start.

This is the sort of guy you would always want to show up when you've had a problem.

I had left a blisteringly rude message with Mercedes customer service, but after this, I'm going to just take it in for service and see if there is any way to diagnose this incredibly irritating problem.

For the money, there is no car that I would prefer to look at.

The occasional aggravation reminds of one of the reasons I bought a Mercedes in the first place. I was dissatisfied with the luxury cars I had previously owned.

Hopefully, the anger expressed by me and others will motivate MB to improve the build quality of all of the systems which we count on every day, most of which perform extremely well without any notice from me.

I have the same problem.

Twice in two weeks. Dealer took the battery out and charged it over night. Put it back in my car.

Two days later, i drive about 40 miles come home at midnight. 6 hours later, i try to go to work, and lo and behold, DEAD AGAIN!

WTF!

meant to ask

anyone finally get this stupid problem fixed?

I'd like to hear what was done.... or maybe what the service advisor told you, like MB builds the power drain into your car so that it doesn't create a massive charge buildup and possible cause thermal nuclear blast.

i might believe that one..... phew so safe!

I was noticing slower cranking, almost a failure to turn over. After it sat 2 days I almost did not get it started. Went to the dealer, they measured switch off draw at less than 30 mA (in spec) but found a bad cell. Battery replaced, on my way in one hour, no problems since.

Cool You guys are bringing back some BAD memories...

My '03 E500 was a NIGHTMARE. No battery issues, but it sat in the shop for 9 weeks waiting for it's second hydrdraulic brake pump. My service visits started at a mere 120 miles.

My car was on the verge of being a technical Lemon, but MB came to the plate and bought the car back while allowing me to jump into an '04 E500. I threw in some bucks for the 4MATIC, nav, and premium package.

Knock wood, but this car is SOLID. Ride is much improved and the E-brakes are much smoother. No Gremlins thus far. This is the way my first car should have been...

Been there. Done that. Hang in there. I feel your PAIN...
