Xpression...great thread.

I hope you can help with two questions:

1 Where can I obtain the "splitter box"?

2 You used speaker outputs from the HU into your amp...was there any reason you didn't use the RCA outputs from the HU?

TIA.

As far as the CANBUS, sounds like the radio you bought didnt enable SW controls. You could have gone into the settings menu and enabled it.

Not sure about the backlight issue though.
I asked the vendor about the wires hanging off the harness and where to hook them up and they said it was normal to have extra wires and I did not need to hook them up.

Also tried to configure SW controls in the SW Controls settings menu and tried many different types of CANBUS interface profiles in the factory setting. Nothing worked.

Anyone know the name of the manufacture of these head units? Or do they have a website where you can by direct?

just seems like a big deal, right? one doesn't have to wire in a new amp? in the past companies promised this but they never worked with our cars

True a new amp is not required.

You can use the internal amp to run the existing speakers, except the sub.

Or you can use the FO interface to use the existing amp but only 2 channels (although all four speakers can be used).

Or you can wire in a new amp using the RCA connectors and have all five channels working...this is what I am doing.

Ahhh ok, you're doing what I did. Speakers sound great but the sub blares out on medium volume

If you have a HK system, all the speakers including the sub do work.. pretty well I might add.

For some reason mine sounds like ****. I've got a good amp too $500 alpine 5ch from Amazon. I wonder if my installer blew the speaker by accident when calibrating. Yes HK, I've got and e55

Hello MooflesThatCat, which radio did you end up installing? I would like to proceed with the change, having the HK option, and it sounds like you have yours running well.

Can any of you figure out the differences between these two? I am trying to understand which of them is the better one.

http://xtrons.com/pf75m211ap-7-andro...edes-benz.html

http://xtrons.com/pg75m211a-7-hd-and...edes-benz.html

The second one seems to have been released on their website quite recently as I have not seen it before. Yet, it cost less, so I don't know if the first one still is the better one?

Just looking briefly, the second one has better specs (wi-fi & 32Gig Rom).

I think both the units have 16gb rom. They both supports 32gb SD-cards though.

I have got the reply from Xtrons that they both are mostly the same but with different UI. The PF75m211AP supports TPMS and the other one dont't.

I have asked about a more detailed explanation, but they just says that the UI is different, so maybe that's just it.

Xtrons have this on their website and also in package with most head units. Seems to do the same.

I think these two seems like great install guides. I do not understand german language, but he shows every step in the video.

Hi guys, just a quick question. With aftermarket heads installed, will the factory trip computer still work. Range, Speed, Temp display. Will it affect the cruise control. I have a 2004 500SL.

Just got an Erisin 5.1.1 MTCD unit. rk3188 quad-core 1.6, 1GB RAM, 16GB ROM. Really limited by only having 1GB - not very responsive.

Bluetooth isn't great - can't get it to detect my OBDII adapter - seems this is a known issue with the firmware on these units with little chance of it being fixed.

I've just installed a slimmed down and rooted rom and will play with disabling Google Play Services and tweaking the governors to try and speed things up a bit but my advice to anyone looking to get one of these units is to hold out for a newer version with 2GB RAM & fixed bluetooth or look for the 4.4.4 version.

There's the px5 octacore with 2GB (don't know if this will fix bluetooth issues) and the intel sofia platform. Let's hope that these units are released with the w211 faceplate. I'm considering returning mine and waiting until the newer units are released...

How will we know when they "fixed" the blue tooth quality, trial and error or is it something the manufactures admit to?

There are a bunch of new octa core units w 2GB and android 6 now. Anyone try one of those? Im tempted to get that plus one of the optical to RCA converters to make this more plug and play w existing amp and not having to re-run wires to the trunk.

You really have to disable Google Play Services to get the unit to be responsive. Once you do that, its MUCH faster. Also, with regard to playing with the governor, keep in mind that the RockChip they use in these units has no heatsink so dont run it too hot. I have mine at 1.4 with the performance goveernor. I'll see how it works out when it starts getting hotter.

I purchased a module like this (Video in motion interface) from Kabeldaviko several years ago. It enabled the CD changer to work. It was rather expensive though when I purchased it. You might email around those that provide video in motion modules to see if they offer the same solution at a lower cost.

Android 6.0, 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM, eight core

I did a quick survey of a few units with Android 6.x:

AliExpress
Android 6.0, 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM, eight core
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1024...329039391.html

Ebay
2GB RAM Android 6.0, 16Gb ROM, Quad Core, 4g cell built in for $$430 + $60 shipping
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2GB-RAM-Andr...EAAOSwo4pYdSlm

Seicane
-Android 5.1.1 unit $480 is upgradable to 6.0 (2G RAM, 32G flash, 8 core CPU) for $60 = $540 + $65 shipping
http://www.seicane.com/seicane-s1275...ra-dvr-s127501

Avin
currently has 5.11 unit with 1GB
-new Android 6.0 version with 2GB RAM coming soon according to chat rep

Xtrons
-replied to inquiry: Sorry, we don't have an Android 6.x, 2GB RAM, 8 core head unit for Mercedes at the moment.

I am considering Seicane since they have been in this game for a while. Is ther any feedback on Seicane quality from anyone out there who has installed one of their current or previous offerings in a W211?

Alternatively, any feedback on the ones on Ali-express or Ebay.

Thanks so much for any responses.

I know of the brand Owince I think they are relatively ok, also both head units don't have the fan in the back they have solid heatsink which is really nice. I was personally looking at the one on ebay as well, but I am happy with my stock for now. I want a complete plug and play no work in this day and age.
If you get either one, let us know still trying to figure out how the maps work on those if I can use the Mercedes CD or I have to hook up to my phone which I really don't want to do.
