Upgrading my Xenon bulbs to 6000k?
Hey fellaz. I’ve been a lurker on here for about a year and this will be my first post. I have a 2004 E320 Sport/Premium package. Seeing how our Xenon bulbs are D2S rated around 4300k, I’ve been contemplating about swapping in some Philips D2S 6000k Ultinon bulbs for a more blueish tinge. I do understand that the 6000K will be a bit dimmer than our 4300K but I’m willing to make the sacrifice for a more pimped out look. Has anyone on here gone this route? Is this just a simple plug and play or would I have to do any modifications to the bulbs or headlight assembly? Are there any other reputable brand other than Philips and Osram? Which websites sell these bulbs at competitive prices? Sorry for the numerous questions. I’m just anxious for my first mod on my baby. Thanks in advance!

I had done this on my Lexus, and the look was real nice. With the right color in a projector style housing, it should be hot. I got them from a place in England. The prices were a little bit more, but the service and quality of the outfit was top notch. Try http://www.autolamps-online.com/home.htm. You may have to e-mail or call them for the proper size bulbs.

I changed my 4300K bi-xenons to 6000K Philips D2S. Simple plug and play. And I HIGHLY recommend anyone to do it. I bought it on eBay from a guy in Taiwan, cheaper than any online store. Do a search.

ADOLFO: I'm still adamant on upgrading my headlights to the Philips 6000k bulbs. I'm currently researching for any websites that’s selling them for cheap. The average price runs $300 for a pair w/o shipping. So far, the cheapest ones I've found are at www.suvlights.com for $285 for a pair. I'll also be upgrading my H11 foglights to XD5 5800k (regular halogens) to have a more consistent color pattern with my headlights. The 5800k rating is the closest one I could find in an H11 style bulb. They’re running about $24 on Ebay. I’m currently running PIAA 19169 in my parking lights, but I’ll be swapping those out for the 19172 for a bluer tinge.
Harris: Do you have before and after pics of your setup? I’ve also been shopping on Ebay for the Philips 6000k to no avail. Do you remember the seller’s user ID on Ebay and how much you paid for a pair?

I'd like to see before and after pics too.
I always thought the Mercedes xenon was plenty blue already. I mean, compared to our BMW, it sure is.

I'm the originator of this thread under a new screen name. Anyhow, here is a link to my album containing pics of my lighting upgrade.
