P2006 intake manifold

I have a 2007 E350 with about 117K miles. The car is running fine but the Check Engine Light is always on. The dealer scanned several error codes, PO410, PO2006, PO810, PO814, PO521. Dealer states "PO2006 Powertrain Intake Manifold, Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck, Bank 1" is the main issue to be fixed. He is suggesting replacement of the Intake Manifold then retesting the systems. This repair would cost $2200. Has anyone experienced similar problems and are there less expensive solutions? Thanks for your help.

There is a repair kit however if your solenoids are damaged and it fails the guided test for this repair you'll be needing a entire new intake manifold. One way to find out, find someone with DAS/Xentry.

Had the same error on our 07 E350 with ~90k miles. Our quote (with coupon code discount) was 1700, I think the undiscounted price was also 2200. I did the repair myself - replaced with OEM intake manifold purchased with gaskets for $550. Problem solved. Total cost was a little more since I had to replace a fuel injector and fuel injector plug, and map sensor but still way cheaper. In my case the rod popped off the tumble flap actuator, but you can't even see the deal without taking out the entire intake manifold, plus on mine the whole movement was sticky/sluggish and the rod where it attaches to the actuator ball was loose and bound to pop back off. I decided to replace the entire intake manifold without the aftermarket repair kit (aluminum instead of plastic) since there's so much other plastic some of which can fall into the valve ports and do real damage, so I figured once every ~9 years I was ok with the repair. just my .02.

How long did it take to replace the manifold, I have the same problem but was thinking of replacing the rods with a after market metal repair kit that I found online. I watched a video of the replacement and it looked like a 8 on a 10 scale. You got any other videos

You need like 5 tools to do this job. pry bar. e-10 socket. 90 degree hook. t-30 socket. needle nose pliers.

loosen wiring harness=e10 socket

remove ME

Disconnect fuel injector connectors

remove four e10 bolts holding fuel rail to manifold.

pry fuel rail from manifold, lay off to side.

remove mass air flow sensor.

remove bolts holding manifold to cylinder head

detach vacuum lines/breather hose going to MOT valve

lift manifold and disconnect connector on rear of manifold going to throttle body

remove manifold

replace gaskets, injector orings, and stretch bolts that secure manifold to cylinder head.

don't be intimidated about the job, it's not that difficult. IF you know righty tight lefty loosey you'll be just fine.

Fortunately this is an extremely common problem as others have alluded to.
Your two options to remedy this are manifold replacement or manifold repair.

I sell a repair kit here:

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...egel-229984206

The instructions can be reviewed here:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/fcp-pdf-fil...+Bellcrank.pdf

I sell the manifold here:

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...fold-700246330

Fortunately both offer our lifetime warranty and both are simple to replace.

The manifolds I sell are the factory style. They come directly from Pierburg or the dealer depending on what you order however they will not come with updated aluminum levers.

P2006 intake manifold

Hello! I am having the same issue in my E350 Bluetec year 2011. In Albania you can fix it for 500$, including the replacement of the necessary parts.
Plan a visit to Tirana, it will end out cheaper and you will spend some relaxing time in a nice small country.
All the best,
Titi

I'm also getting the P2006 code. Did you ever find a fix? I'm still looking.

I also got a P0012 with the other code...

Did you read the thread? The fix is to replace the intake manifold. FCPEuro still sells the kit with the gaskets and O rings for the fuel injectors. Hopefully you get gaskets that aren't bent like the one they sent me. There's actually several youtube videos on how to do it. An indy mechanic could handle it. It basically involves removing lots of stuff and disconnecting/connecting various things. There's no short cuts like replacing just the lever or rods, that just means the flaps will get worse as they're gummed up from the oil from the bad oil separator/breather cover and will eventually break and fall into the engine causing additional damage. Once you replace those items, you should be good for about another 15 years. This is a well known issue with the M272/M273 engines.

Are they new or did you just rebuild it? How much did you want for it? There's some cheap aftermarket ones out there now, about $279 and also has a lifetime warranty. Someone claimed to have used it and then had problems afterwards but that might have been user error.

just private message me. I would charge you no where near that much. how about like 50 bucks plus shipping. I take paypal and venmo....

I dont really know how to test is per se, as both were removed from a car I was parting out. They worked fine without any flap codes. If you want me to do anything particular with it just let me know

they are about 100-150 on ebay so 50$ should be a good deal even if shipping is 15 or 20 bucks.

What was the mileage on the cars? The intake manifold could go anywhere from 80-140k or even less. There's a lever in the front, press that and see how quickly it springs back if it springs back. That's the one that traditionally breaks once the flaps gets gummed up. You could probably look through the bottom of the intake and see how badly the flaps are coated when moving the lever.
