Valve Body Swap
I know this probably has been asked before but can't find a definitive answer. Can I swap a valve body from one tranny to another and use the current conductor plate. I have a 2009 E350 which is shifting erratically between 1-2 and 3-4. I Have two good transmission laying around. I have codes P0894 and P0734, no codes associated with conductor plate.

What transmission we are talking about?
Even the transmissions can have the same housings, there is some variations between them depends what engine they couple to.
I know a member handle MAVA who works on 5-speeds and he is transmissions guru on the net.

Too many german broads
When my trans failed on my 06 e350 I was told my original valve body was unusable. The valve body that came on my replacement used transmission was unprogrammable car to car, according to the dealer.

FYI 0734 and 0894 are not conductor plate faults---they both relate to 4 gear is implausable and slipping--I would change the transmission!!

From all the advise you can get on net - Plutoe would be at the bottom of the characters list that I would take seriously.
But that is me.

I have to disagree with you Kajtek.
Plutoe may not play well with others but I believe it is because he has a low tolerance for the willfully ignorant. He reminds me (of me and) of multiple personnel with whom I served in the military; excellent at their specialty and not willing to cut any slack for anyone who is not expending 100% effort to learn and produce. Plutoe busted on me once or twice and I let it slide because he was correct. I did not enjoy it but it caused me to redouble my efforts to learn more to get ahead of him.
He is often outspoken bordering on outrageous, he is competent and knowledgeable, and he is almost always correct. Don't let his mannerisms distract you from what he is saying.
@Plutoe, this doesn't mean I like you personally; I respect your knowledge and expertise. Your people skills suck but you have an amazing tolerance for the entry-level personnel (you would have made a good drill instructor). :-)

If I read you bb, you are saying that Plutoe is sick genius?
I agree that he is sick, but I don't see he is genius.
I might be steer into opinion by the fact that Plutoe was proved to have no real car knowledge in the past by such gurus like ohloard and others, but I already catch him giving wrong information in last 2 months when I become more active on this site.
He is poser, like ohloard said and I confirmed.
He reads manuals and can copy real information, but in hard to investigate cases he goof.
Just like in W210 section he advised to replace expensive climatronic, while have no troubleshooting showing there is anything wrong with it.
In the reply above he plays smarter than MB technicians. I have no way to say who is right, but I put my bet on dealer.
Too expensive to have Plutoe as adviser.

Plutoe is correct about these codes being for slipping. 734 is picking on gear 4 specifically for slippage and 894 is a general slipping code. I have had on RARE occasions a bad conductor plate cause a slipping code but it's usually a sign of bigger issues.

Super Member
The codes are normally correct and Plutoe does provide good information and he does post in multiple forums (w140, w210, etc.) which is a good thing as the codes don't care about personality or opinions (facts are facts). Could be the retired military in me speaking...

Don't get me started about military where "chain of orders" have to prevail common sense.
I don't deny Plutoe's excellent copying skills.
Ha can find WIS, manuals and other members experience to copy, but he lacks real-life troubleshooting skills, what lead to often misdiagnosis.
Take a look at the thread https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ml#post6683555
answering the first, he makes mumbo-jumbo.
Then when more information emerge, he goes back to his computer and copy page of manual.
That is very typical for him per my observations.
I might start keeping records when he was giving wrong parts buying recommendations.
nahh.. it is not my job.
