Change My Own Oil? What Kind?
Thinking about getting a vac system and changing my own oil from top.
What oil is everyone using now for diesels?
Mine is a 2009 E-320 Bluetec with 41k
I see a Mobil 1 5w-40 but for diesel trucks?
The ESP I think is 5w-30?

I'd recommend Mobil1 5W-40 or 0W-40, European Car Formula. Dealers, from what I understand, basically use both, or - rather - switched from using 0W-40 to 5W-40 due to some bleed down issues in their AMG engines. You can't really go wrong with either, but as a previous poster said, it's best to tailor it to climate.

Mobil1 European is not 229.52 certified. The European oil is good for vehicles without the DSP (?) system. I believe that the European oil is rated 229.51. This is what I use in my 2006 cdi.

Didn't read OPs post and subsequent replies carefully enough, I meant for gasoline engines, my apologies. You're right that is not DPF safe.
