Very interesting.

Under options, no: 4-zone climate control, solar panels, rear sunshade, side sunshade, or heated steering wheel. That really punishes me for wanting to spend the extra 1560 to buy a panorama roof.

Premium package has become very premium $$. Comfort package is gone. Appearance package is gone. So is FSS and free maintenance. The warranty section does not specify how many years/miles.

I'll see if I can still get an '04. The CDI, and all other '05s are not worth it.

I do not understand what MB is doing to the 320 (gas or CDI) with this de-contenting for 2005.

S Class sales must be falling. With the options that were available on the 320 E it was actually a better value than the more profitable entry level S Class Sedans. Some of these deletions also apply to the E500 as well? If so that would add fuel to the argument. I guess it was easier to delete the goodies from the E than to add them to the S.

This may reflect an overall attempt to differentiate between the product lines.

levind-
Maybe it was just when you checked the site, but just now (4/20) I did a build your own with an E320 CDI and was able to pick up the heated seats/steering wheel along rear and side sunshades. I guess they may have updated the site since it was first put up.

I also found it interesting that Keyless Go is available as an option on the CDI, I wasnt sure if it would make to the diesel model.

I just checked again. I am looking at the '05 E320CDI. I do not see any individual options for rear and side sunshades other than the ones bundled in the premium package. The side sunshades listed on the accessories page are dealer-installed, and not the same shades.

So there's also no air suspension available on this caR?

Yes, the ones I were referring to were part of a package, its a shame that there optioning them different, there all E classes, shouldnt matter on the engine size or type of fuel for that matter.

E-class E300e Estate, Sprinter (stretched limo)
Has any US member actually wrote to MBUSA and asked why they are not offering the full range of options that are available for the CDI???

There have been a lot of speculation as to the possible reasons, but it would be interesting to know the REAL explanation.

4 Zone Yes
Airmatic Yes
Keyless Go Yes

Has any US member had a test ride yet, and what were there impressions?

I just hope we have not built up the expectations of this vehicle to much.

Regards,
John

I agree. We all need to pitch in. I just sent my email to MBUSA. Usually I just get a canned response back. I'm pretty upset, so hopefully they will be more forthcoming

It is coming up on three weeks now....still no response from MBUSA on my email. I wrote "I expect a prompt response to my concerns." At this point I would have appreciated a canned reply rather than nothing. They sure make me feel special.
