My Ford beeps at almost anything and it always scares da hack of me.
MB diesels can make 80 miles with reserve light on.... on the average. YMMV

My understanding is that the fuel pump in the fuel tank depends on fuel to keep it cool (and working). Less than 1/4 tank and you're not keeping the pump cool like it likes. Pumps are expensive.
A *ding* might be nice, but keeping fuel in the tank is nicer.
Then again, I like the stereo turned up too. A *ding* might not even be noticed, but my eyes will surely pick up a low fuel light as they move around.
Edit to add: My chevy diesel rings a bell when the fuel level is low. No, it doesn't have a fuel pump in the tank...

Yea i dont try to run it low but because its long ranged and there aren't diesel stations everywhere and the cruise control stalk blocks my view of the idiot light. I would like a beep chime every 5 minutes and a display warning. So i was just wondering if there was a audible warning and mine wasn't working. And please don't make suggestions on how to drive. I asked a simple question and wanted a simple answer.

I haven't heard a beep but just the light that shows up. I've gone as far as just half a gallon left in tank, being stupid, yes lol, but there was no sound heard.

Frankly, ...... The simple answer to your question would be, DON'T LET YOUR CAR RUN THAT LOW ON FUEL AND YOU NOT KNOWING IT UNLESS THERE IS A BEEP.
Pay attention to your driving and you should never get yourself into this situation.

It's been over 3 years since I parted with a 2007 E350 sport. That said, when the low fuel warning light came on in the display you could cancel it by hitting the enter button on the steering wheel each time you started the vehicle. Until it got within a gallon or so of capacity, you could not clear the warning on the dash. In the year I owned the car I never managed to runout of fuel, after being nagged by the message on the dash. YMMV

So, OMG right back at you, .....
And as this is a public forum, I choose to respond to any which Post I like, ..... EVER.
Instead of wasting your time complaining about who responds how to your post, you may want to go and check the fuel gauge on your car, .... just to be safe.
Wishing you a wonderful, not running out of fuel kinda day!

Really do you need a chime? Unless you are a chick I don't understand? It tells you right in the center display "reserve fuel" ?

And even if a chick, common sense should still apply if male or female, don't you agree?

BTW I hope you guys know that by scrolling the cluster menu with reserve light on, you will get "miles to empty" display.
I drove over 20 miles with it showing 0 due to not knowing that there is no gas station for 50 miles.
But I used all my ECO skills to do that.

Im driving an 06 w211 CDI and there is no nagging on the center display which would be great in leu of a warning chime, which plenty of other vehicles have, why I was surprized not to have it incorporated. This e320 seemingly has only an idiot light which is easily blocked by the cruise control stalk furthermore its not that bright when the sun is pouring in and the lower portion of the fuel gauge is also blocked by the stalk. On a side note: Too bad this forum doesnt offer a message/reply blocking feature so that obnoxious people could be gagged from the owner's posts.

Ha, Ha, ........ Funny Maybe you should imagine being married to Mr. Frankly, as he is obviously smart enough to have enough fuel in his car by using common sense as well as the already provided displays of the vehicle in order NOT to run out of fuel, rather than waiting on a BEEP.
I did, and I imagined going to court and applying for an injuction for Common Law and Harrassment against you, it was granted.

I believe when the Range is arnd 10 miles or so...you still have almost a gallon remaining. I drove about 8-10 miles on 0 miles of Range and filled up 19.5 gallons when i got to the pump. That was bit scary, i was on a 7 mile long bridge with 0 mile of Range lol
