LED DRL install, fog light delete, help with wiring

Hello guys,

I've removed my fog lights and installed some led drl's in their place, I've got them working and everything but i can't seem to find a a place to tap a power source from the parking lights or headlights. The reason i need to tap the parking or head lights is that i want the drl's to dimm at night when the headlights are on. I tried taking the little corner bumper lights but it doesn't work with them, the drl's won't dimm. I then tried the parking light that's in the small high beam lamp and it does work, the drl's dimm as they should.

How can i tap those or the headlights without making a hole into the headlight housings? Please advise.

Hello, I am looking to buy these LED fog light replacements for my 07 E350 sports package (non-amg). Do you by any chance have a link to this product? Or at least the name of the company that makes them? I cannot find one anywhere. I love the look as it is very tasteful and pretty much looks like OEM.

In addition, how happy are you with the product so far? Do the LED's outshine all other light elements? My car comes with HID, so I hope the light intensity will be similar.

Thank you in advance!

Thank you so much, sir! Are you happy with the quality so far? Did you ever figure out how to connect the DRL's so they will dim at nigh?

Thanks again for replying. Cheers!

Connect the cable, which need 12v for dimming/switching off these LEDs, to parking light bulb which is in long beam reflector. The important thing is to connect it through diode and 10 kOhm resistor. Then it should work.

Do You have active link to this DRL lights? I want to aquire them but seems to be unavailble :/

Hey,

The issue I am having is that my car has the HID package and my parking lights are fibre optic and not conventional globes. The car seems to somehow send a signal to the light all the time and the computer determines when it actually illuminates.

This means if I connect the dim cable it just dims them all the time as there is always voltage even if the parker is or isn’t illuminated….

Fiber optic in W211? As far as I know in the facelift version with HID's there is led parking light with some special fiber lens. Anyway in my friend's car I have connected to cable which is responsible for this led parking light and everything works fine. It is in small socket closer to radiator, in the back of the headlamp.

Would you have a pic of the connector and wire you tapped into?

Unfortunately the vehicle is sold. Driver's side headlamp, socket closer to radiator and I have checked on which cable 12v shows up after I turn on parking light - don't remember exactly what colour but certainly this did the job with resistor and diode.

The w211 doesn't have any fiber optics anywhere in the headlights. It uses an LED module that has a plastic diffuser where the normal bulb would come/poke through on the standard reflector housing. I added the LED module/reflector to my OEM housing when I did a projector retrofit. The OEM wiring can be tapped. It's just a 12v power and ground that would illuminate the LED module. If you take your headlight apart you should easily see it.

You'd have to scroll through the threads to find my old pictures. But I pretty much rewired my lights from OEM halogen to OEM bi-xenon. It was not difficult at all.

Sorry, I don’t know. Best place to look is alibaba or AliExpress. Also check ebay UK. You should search for "w211 LED lights". Good luck

I’ve had the displeasure of taking off my bumper and conducting “surgery” on the headlight wires. They are recessed well under the upper engine frame and the wires corrode as do the side markers. I’ve seen other discussions and there are folks here who have access or know where to find wiring diagrams. But honestly, at some point the lenses have to be replaced as they get yellow.

IMHO I wouldn’t start screwing around with wiring. There’s nothing wrong with the OEM set up
