Delivery Charge on European Delivery
Is there a delivery charge on ED? Is it included in the price? My dealer seems to think there is however I'm pretty sure there isn't.
Did you do an ED and get a delivery charge?
Thanks,
David

You mean destination charge? The destination charge is not added in.
I think if you go to MBUSA.COM and try pricing for "build your own" vs. the EDP, you'll see it is a bit cheaper. And some models probably still have the discount as well.

Also, a couple days ago Mercedesfan posted a lengthy article... you may want to consult that, or do other searching in the forum.

Do as suggested and go to www.mbusa.com and you can see how ED differs. You do not have to pay the typical $720 U.S. delivery charge.
European deliver includes the entire cost of delivering the car from one of the European drop off points to your dealer. Depending on the model you are buying, you can get up to 7% off the base MSRP price. A local dealer here also throws in the Alpine Tour Package for free or if you don't want that, a bigger discount.
If you are going to do Euro delivery, find a dealer who has an ED specialist who can tell you EXACTLY how things work.
You get 15 days of zero deductable insurance. You get one night's free lodging, a free meal when you pick up the car and two chits for taxi rides.
If you get the Alps package, you get five nights in 5-star hotels. See the list on MBUSA. You can stay a maximum of two nights in any one of them and if you end your tour in Munich, you can leave your car at the hotel and the shipper will pick it up there.

I have read the website. I justed wanted a confirmation from someone who actually did it. On Bimmerfest there is an ED forum, so it is easier to isolate the question.
The dealer said was trying to put it in, but could have been misinformed. There are a lot of nuances to the car and to program, and not every CA is expert.

European delivery is well worth the experience, plus you get a great deal on the car with the 7% discount and no delivery fee. I would highly recommend the Rally Alps hotel package, particularly the Interalpen in Austria. The factory tour is amazing, and the lunch provided at the factory was some of the best food I had while in Germany. If you have 2 weeks (spend the entire time if you can), don't pass up the opportunity to get your car there, drive it on the autobahn where it can run like it should, enjoy the scenery, and have a great trip all in one. I will definitely do it again.
One other piece of advice, get the nav system so you can easily find your way around. I don't need it here at home, but sure wish I had it while in Europe. Even with a detailed map, getting around can be somewhat of a challenge.
