Finally! No more use of the iPod as my music library in the car. Have burned a DVD with 40 folders and close to 1000 songs on it.
The quality is CD quality! I hear no difference..

Is this available in the U.S.?

 

Not available in the US. Someone prove me wrong (pretty please. As far as I know, you would need to get the Euro COMAND installed to allow this.

And while it is possible that it is just a firmware upgrade, it is also possible that it would require extra hardware within the COMAND. If you read the informative article over at MBENZNL's site, you will see that the US and Euro COMAND systems have quite a bit different about them.

A few of us managed to override the interlocks that prevented viewing DVD films /TV while the car was in motion. But as soon as you do the update that allows you to use the DVD player with MP3, it will again prevent viewing while in motion.

 

And those interlocks can be overridden again.

so you've already been able to do it? Not being able to play dvd's while driving AND having mp3 capability has been preventing me from getting the Euro COMAND unit...

 

I have Video in motion and mp3 capability.
My headunit is a COMAND APS model BE6061 and it's running SW version 9.390 15/2004:

To activate Video in Motion (not activated by default) you have to follow these steps:

* Call the ENGINEERING MODE Menu:* Call the ENGINEERING MODE Extended Menu:Once on the ENGINEERING MODE Menu press and hold [#],[*], [left arrow] (in that order), until you see these three italicized options on the right side of the COMAND.

The new menu items are:
• Dr.Dist – Driver Distraction
• RegCod – Region Code
• Backd…- Backdoor


Driver Distraction menu:
handbrake locked
gear shift in P
speed 0 km/h
speed 10 km/h
general picture lock

Un-selecting these gives you 'Video in Motion'

So if you upgrade to SW version 9.390 15/2004 you'll have mp3 capability and Video in motion.

I don't have it. The upgrade was done at the dealer a couple of years ago for enabling MP3. As far as I know you can't downgrade the HU firmware. You'll have to flash it first.
Did you try the dealer? Note: Most dealers now have the newer version which will disable the access to the Engineering Menu.

Yes, that is correct the SW-Rel 9.390 disc part number is W211 589 06 22 00.
However, like I said you cannot downgrade without flashing the unit.
Which version do you have now? If you currently cannot access the Engineering Menu then you are already running SW-Rel 15.130 Build 51/05 (or later).

We had downgrade from 04/06 to 51/05,it's successed yesterday!(it was erasy flashing first than update after we put on cd rom itself)

Try holding down 1,3,8 keys simultaneously just after COMAND-APS is turned on. This will put the COMAND-APS into "update mode". Then insert the service CD.

So you were able to downgrade from SW-Rel 15.130 to SW-Rel 9.390 successfully with the service CD? You didn't have to flash the unit first?
Do you now have access to the engineering menu?

We had downgrade from SW:04/06 to SW:51/05 yesterday successfully with the service Cd,and we will try to downgrade from SW:51/05 to 15/04 tomorrow,because we got a 15/04 update Cd today,and will let you know

Keep in mind that you will lose some of the new features like the ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) on the main screen which is not available in the older releases.

 

We don't care about it! because The navi system is not available in our country!
