SBC WARRANTY EXTENSION PART 2
FYI
a recent change has been done on warranty coverage for SBC Hydraulic Units for MY2003-2006 Model 211, MY2006 Model 219 and MY 2003-2012 Models 230/231 was extended from 4 years / 50k miles to 25 years unlimited miles.
The extended warranty also applies to MY2004-2012 Model 240 and MY2005-2009 Model 199.
If you encounter an issue with SBC, please check with your local authorized Mercedes Benz dealership for details.

How can we show documentation about this warranty extension?
Is there a press release or technical service bulletin that we can put in the dealer's face when he tries to stick us with a bill?

With no documentation in hand, I'm sure they would find a way IMHO.
How could there be no press release or documentation?
I guess I will just call the dealer to verify, once I do I will post.
Have a great day.

My experience is that dealers will always find a way to screw you.

What about in the case of my 2003 E500, which had the original SBC pump replaced by the dealer back in 2011 at 60k miles. The car now has 110k miles on it - if I reach the number of pedal pushes do you think Mercedes will replace the unit again a second time for no charge.

Bare in mind, the extended warranty not likely will pay for SBC pump replacement per maintenance schedule.
4 bags for airmatic cost way more than rebuild SBC.

What about reimbursement for previous work done on the SBC pump? Anyone find an official TSB?
Also I am assuming this does not cover the pressure reservior/accumulator?

Thanks for the information!
My E55 has been a great and reliable car. It has been sitting for two years due to traveling and work etc. Put fresh batteries in it and was ready to go cruise like the old days but got the Red message of death on the screen and the SBC Pump is making a lot of noise. Never had a problem with the system before.
Called the dealer and they confirmed the warranty extension. Towing the car there today!

I don't know if my SBC is going to fail so I'd love to know your opinion. Recently I just got the AMG version cluster installed, which shows the voltage number while the car is running. Whenever the SBC pump operates, the voltage number dips down from 14.2 V to around 13.0 V then got back up to 14.2 V again after the SBC pump finishes (around 2 seconds). The cluster backlight slightly fluctuates during this time.
Alternator just got replaced (brand new genuine Mercedes alternator).
Is this normal or I should get my SBC checked? Any input is greatly appreciated.

I made an appointment and dropped the car off at Mercedes of Downtown Los Angeles on 08/31/2018. They loaned me a courtesy vehicle through the long weekend even though I offered to bring the car back on Tuesday since they don't service these type of repairs on Fridays/weekends and Monday was a holiday. I got a text on Tuesday saying the car was ready to be picked and I picked it up on Wednesday. The service tech said all that was necessary was a software reflash. My friend with a similar vehicle (E320 CDI) had a red message on the dash and his vehicle is having the accumulator replaced.

I had my brake warning light come on before Christmas 2018. I had as code for the accumulator. Brought car to my local dealer and they told me it wasn't covered under the recall. I was told the pump itself had to fail. Quoted me for $1600.00 to replace it. I have a new accumulator ball (that I purchased for $75) and put it in and bled the system. (I have STAR Diagnostics)
This is the same dealer that I tried to develop a service history with when I bought the car. They charged me $39 to reset the TPMS on my car...which has no TPMS according to me and the option sheet. This past visit was the last straw.
I'm glad Mercedes extended the recall/bulletin regarding the braking system. I just wish it was as clear at the dealer level.

Hi,
does this mean my E320 211 2003 is covered as The brakes have gone into much less pressure and the red warning light and beeper is active? The AA man said it is probably the SBC accumulator?
Kind regards
Richard

It depends on what fault codes are stored in the SBC.
