Ok I'll bite. Why do you want to use 4matic struts on a RWD? Also why do you even need a conversion kit? RWD struts, springs and mounts are widely available from many different suppliers.

I'm weird
I'm a bit weird in that I kind of trust the designers employed by Mercedes Benz to know what they're doing. Sure, there will always be a compromise between ultimate racing performance and street driving. But unless you're racing, why would you presume to know more than Mercedes Benz engineers?
I have a stock-standard E500 W211 and apart from upgrading the Comand Head Unit, which they quite arrogantly no longer provide map updates for - I love it.

He needs a conversion kit because he wants to place traditional rear springs in place of the bags, along with traditional shock absorbers in place of the electronic MB units. Strutmaster sells a "kit" to do this.

Haven't had an issue yet but mine has only done 80,000km - what sort of problems - or obviously a link to a thread would be easier than listing them all!

So just buy E320 coil springs. You don't need a conversion kit.

You're missing the point. The kit is not built to Mercedes standards. They made some very big compromises in order to make their kit work with the airmatic control arms. There are many unhappy customers. Same goes for arnot's kit.
