Hi All,
I'm a proud new owner of a 2007 Mercedes E550 with 77K miles. Wow what a car!
My car has stock 17 inches wheels with a square set up, and the tires are 245/45-17. I'd like to make the stance a bit more aggressive, and there seems to be a lot of room in the wheel well for spacers. Has anyone ran 25mm spacers in the rear and 15mm in the front? Will this set up fit with no rubbing? Or is a 20mm rear and 10mm front set up used more often? Please let me know you thoughts and have a great day! -Lex

Need to know the offset of the wheels on it, just because they are "stock" doesn't mean they are stock to this car. Should be 48 offset IIRC so I run 30 offset on mine and it's fine, meaning the spacers you want should be OK. I'd personally run 20 in the rear, but that is my opinion. No sure where in the DC area you are, but my car is in Manassas, VA daily so if you are ever around you are welcome to check out my setup.

Hello, thanks for the response. According to tirerack.com, my car would run wheels with an offset of between 32mm and 35mm. I'm afraid that I do not know how to exactly determine what offset is on the wheels of my car. I did several web searches that did not help. All I know is that these wheels are tucked in very deep to the wheel well. I do not like the stance at all right now. It sounds like a 20mm rear and 10mm front is the best bet. I have a couple repairs to make (i.e., ball joint need replacing due to squeak) and several cosmetic mods (i.e., new headlight assembly, grill), that would be great if I could come see your car. You can Google, but if you feel like it, take the wheel off. If it's a real Mercedes wheel it will (usually) have the part number and offset stamped on the inside. It's a 2 digit number. I'm guessing 48. Either way, take this number and subtract the spacer (15mm) from it and that will give you the offset range. I will tell you 32-35 is safe but you can venture outside that. If it is 48, 15 is fine up front.

Thanks guys for your feedback. It looks like 20mm rear and 10mm front is my best bet. Do you run the kind of spacers that bolt to hub, and then the wheel bolts to spacer? Or do you run the kind that just use longer wheel bolts?

I see. It was my understanding that running longer wheel bolts was more dangerous and could cause damage to the wheel hub? Do you not agree? May this is not an issue with the w211?

I don't understand that theory. I'd rather run longer steel m14 wheel bolts than really on the structural integrity of a 20mm aluminum disk to keep the wheel attached.

I run 15mm front and 20mm rear on staggered 19's and no issues ever. I've had them on for about 2 years now. only problem is in the front you have to either get hubcentric spacers or make sure it's perfectly centered or you'll get some steering wheel vibration. Perfectly safe if torqued correctly though!

You need bolts that have a threaded length that is the thickness of the spacers, longer. The bolts need a minimum threaded depth engagement in the hub, so spacers means longer bolts. Std. bolts are 29mm thread, so in the back you would need 50mm bolts, in the front, 40mm bolts.
In the rear, screw in the bolts, with rim, and unscrew 5 mm again. Slowly screw in one bolt, while turning the wheel. If you hear a snapping noise, the bolts are too long, and are touching the springs in the parking brake. Measure, and shorten the bolts.
The front ones are not critical.
Even if you should manage to fit the rims with the stock 29mm bolts, it would be exstremly dangerous, since the tread engaged in the hub would only be a few turns, so the wheels will simply break off, and you crash the car.

Actually I was asking if 25mm spacers "fit" inside the wheelwell. I cannot find anyone running 25mm spacers, so my best guess is those would not fit. Also, I thought our OE lugnuts where 27.9mms?

Is you car lowered, and if, by how much ?
If not lowered, do you have plans to do so ?

They sell them in 25mm as well.
I ran 20mm rear with 275/30/19 and 15mm front with 255/35/19. They came with the extended bolts as well. I remove my wheels and clean the barrels once a month and have never had any issue with these spacers. They're cheaper than some of the others but the quality is 100% there.
This week i switched to 295/30/19 rear and took them off because of spacing but I will be going back to them and a skinnier tire once these are worn I just couldn't say no to the deal lol

That is important to know along with the wide of the rims
Low offset, you can run thicker spacers, and wise versa.

Without the spacers and anything smaller than 265 rear tire it looked sunken in and I hated it. Also I'm swapping on a set of E55 calipers I have my in garage over the long weekend so the spacers are a must for me at least. The rears would clear but the fronts would touch without at least 5mm.

Without the spacers and anything smaller than 265 rear tire it looked sunken in and I hated it. Also I'm swapping on a set of E55 calipers I have my in garage over the long weekend so the spacers are a must for me at least. The rears would clear but the fronts would touch without at least 5mm.

Didn't the 275 look a bit skinny on 10.5" rim ?

With the 275 on the 10.5 it was only slightly stretched, I’ll upload a close up with the 275 and spacer below.
Im rolled and pulled all the way around so they set right at the end fender edge, rubbed a little but only with 3 people in the backseat over bumps really. I tried 25 first but with my offset it didn’t work. 20 put it perfectly flush.
