hey, i dont have one, but i have seen them before, there is only one wire right?, the connection wire? i believe it goes into your cigarrette lighter connection below your command. the was i have seen it is ppl put the detector ar the top of thier windshield, and pull down the wire to the 12V connection in the car. i dont really think there is a way to conceal the wire, and V1 doesnt make a cordless version, but V1 has this, http://valentine1.com/moreinfo/Conce...ay_pg18-19.pdf GL, and hopefully it all works out.
I dont mean the wire the connects to the cigaret outlet and I am refering to the one you conect to the cars ground or battery for a direct installation.
You might consider buying the K40. It is completely integrated...
IMHO, K40 integrated is far inferior to V1. I did a side by side test in a car with K40 integrated installed. The K40 had been recommended to me by the dealer (which should have tippe dme off, but didn't). On a second car I went with V1. I then decided to do a comparison on the first car with the K40. The V40 was mounted on windshield and plugged in and then we checked to see when radar signals were picked up. The V1 consistently outperformed -- by a very wide margin -- the K40. There were some detects where the V1 gave 20 seconds of warning and K40 3 or 4. The same test with an Passport SR1 (predecessor to the current Escorts) also showed the V1 to be better, though by not so wide a margin as the case with ther K40. The advantages of the Passport were neater and less noticeable installation, and fewer false alerts than V1 (even with V1 in Logic mode). It all depends on what you think is of value as between the V1 and Passport, but for my $$ I would never again get a K40.
how much is the k40 and how does it install to the car
I paid around $1,200 USD but it is more than just a radar detector. I have the laser diffuser which allows you to deflect the virtually undetectable (until its too late) laser guns. It is also completely integrated in the car so nobody knows you have it including the state trooper which can't hurt. This also makes it less prone to theft especially because they would need to take apart the car. I travel a lot and it has served me really well but I had the integrated version and maybe that makes a difference??? No visible wires makes it the most attractive. It has been a great system for me. I have been approaching a turns, heard it, slowed down and saw the state trooper in an offensive position.
how much is the k40 and how does it install to the car
The last K40 I had installed was in 2001 and I paid $650. I have it in 3 cars, and while it's universally agreed that V1 is the best, I think K40 is good enough to avoid radar, which is mainly used by local cops, who are very easy to detect with almost any radar detector. If V1 could inexpensively be remote mounted, I'd get one on my next car, but the hidden installations I've seen cost around $2700-$3000. A good alternative might be the new Passport radar detector/laser shifter (a/k/a laser jammer). Their web site states $1495 installed.
Where I live, the highway cops use laser almost exclusively, so even a V1 is useless.
Hey I'm new here and just want to put my 2cents in. I bought my V1 about 4 or 5 years ago and it is still going strong(not like the preformance will fade). Anyway my V1 being that old, detect laser, K band, etc.
I would love to find a way to mount it without the wire showing from the windshield to the center cig lighter.
