E500 on the way -- some questions
My E500 (Capri, Ash) has been at the VPC since Saturday and I may have it as soon as this weekend, or good bet for next week. Its got: Premium, Appearance Packages, Ventilated seats, TPM. Being delivered in New York. Would anyone who's gotten an 05 with Appearance package be able to tell me what kind of tires were provided on delivery -- brand, model and whether all-season? Also, does anyone have any late-breaking information on phones? Are the v600 cradles out yet? Has anyone been able to find out whether you need a MB handset or can use your own. Thanks. I'll post photos after delivery.

Don't have Appearance Pkg so have to pass on tire question. I received Conti's with mine.
As to phones, there seems to be no resolution yet. MBUSA probably knows but is not sharing with the public. Other posts say there are rumors supporting both a modified v600 and an off-the-shelf version. And no word on cradles. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I also ride on the Michelin Primacy tires. So far I have no complaints however the tire overall seems to have very bad reviews on Tirerack.com. Most people complained about the noise after several thousand miles. Anyone else have issues with this rubber and if so, what did you swap them out for?

My '03 E500 came with Contis. Lots of complaints on the Forum on these but I don't agree. I now have 17,300 miles on them and they perform just fine. I loke to push the cae now and then and the tires don't protest!

My 03 E500 came with Continental tires and when I traded them they had plenty of tread left. My main gripe was noise from the front tires. I had to rotate them at 5k because of the low pitched whine that made me think a bearing had let go. I wouldn't have another set if you gave them to me. Michelins are far superior IMHO.
I was a bit disappointed when my E55 came with Contis but they are a completely different tread pattern and are lower profile. So far they seem to be OK but are not as sticky as my Michelins that I've used on all my other MB's and Vette.
As far as the phone. The word is that they are on national backorder in the US. I wanted to take the system with the voice control unit out of my 03 and put it into my 05 E55 (dealer said that it could be done) but when the 05's came out they said that it would not be compatible. They are providing the new system for me. The dealer also had me keep my V60i handset and said that it would work with the new system.
