DIY Engine replacement
I did find this thread which appears to have the write ups. Anything else I should know? https://www.benzworld.org/threads/20...eeded.2907890/
Thanks in advance.

honestly I couldn’t believe how easy it turned out to be. This is my first time doing something like this and Mercedes made it easy on me. I am coming off from spending weeks and lots of swear words on the electronic parking brake module and rear brakes of an LR3. I could have done 3 more mercedes engines before I got the darned Rover right.
the real challenge will be getting it all back together and in. I got new accessory pulleys, water pump, p/s Reservoir (broke the old one on extraction, oops), Coolant hoses and motor mounts to put on, which is dead simple with the motor out. Will need a helper to align everything and not smash the trans lines I think.

Nice work. I'll be swapping my 190k mile 3.2 for a 60k mile 3.7 soon.
On my 06 engine there is an electrical wire going to the power steering pump, branching from the wire going to the a/c compressor. The 07 engines wiring harness does not have it. Any idea what this wire is for and will the car get mad without it?
I ended up swapping harnesses after I got the new engine in, so I still had parameter steering support. This requires removing the intake manifold to get after a couple sensors underneath it. In addition, couldn’t get to the starter ground easily so I just cut the wire and soldered/heat shrinked it back. Glad I ended up doing it as the old engine had a brand new intake manifold, so swapped that too.
Here’s a video of my first test fire. First it was misfiring like the old engine and my heart sank for a split second, then it started purring!
I plan on giving it a transmission and rear diff fluid service and this thing should be ready for action again.
