Just bought the car. Air suspension problem already? Need advice
Welp… my new to me 2006 E500 4matic Amg sport’s right rear corner was touching the ground after sitting for 2 days in the driveway. But once I started the car it pumped back up.
the airbags looked good last I checked. What could be the cause?
thanks

you think it’s the bags? Ok I will have to I guess.
Also I need new front rotors and pads but my cars are drilled from the factory. On FCP euro just searching “2006 E500 4matic” it doesn’t give me a drilled rotor option. Can you use my vin again to get the part number for the proper front rotors and pads for my car? Thank you

Regardless of badge, the VIN states what parts were used. Please share your VIN
On the air leak, follow procedure to find a air leak. It can be as simple as a bad connection in the system from the manifold, to the splitter at the rear, or at the bags. Anything else is guessing with $$

I've had an E500, E550, and E55 AMG all do this. Rear air springs.
If there isn't any documentation/record of them ever being done, you need rear air springs - ALTHOUGH, you should troubleshoot and spray with soapy water on the valve block, line connections, etc first. Air up the suspension to the highest setting (lift mode or w/e it's called) and listen for leaks if it's a fast leak.

So I went away for a week and left the e500 in the garage the whole time with the suspension on the raised setting. I just got back and checked on it and the car is completely level. The right rear has not gone down. So it seems intermittent. Does this mean it’s not the airbag and it’s the valve block instead?

but, a Mercedes center will do all the correct relay swaps and inspections - so for example, it may not be the air bladder, but a corroded air line from the compressor back. It could be the relay.
this is an area where I feel ok having a trained Mercedes mechanic earn their rate.

The relay pops out and in. The air bags are easily replaced as well. My E500 rears are shrouded, so apart from soapy water testing the connection, I couldn't visually detect a leak on them. Sometimes a code will pop up such in the case of a dirty/faulty purge valve. Mine lists ever so slightly to the left, but I'm not going to mess with it it begs me to. Apologies for the unnecessary comma in the 3rd sentence.

I am certain you mean "an honest highly qualified" trained Mercedes mechanic.
Once a problem with the W166 braking system took it to the trustworthy Indy we use, he evaluated and could not come up with a final diagnostic except "we can try replacing the ABS pump, but cannot guarantee it will solve your problem", So he advised us to take it to the dealer, but stubborn me I tried another highly recommended Indy in Tampa, he came up with exact same conclusion "Guess is something with the ABS pump, but with no codes, I do not want guess with your money, please take it to the dealer". Took it to the dealer and $1200+ later, the issue was fixed. Source of the problem: ABS pump. None of the indies charged a penny even though they spent time diagnosing the vehicle. You can guess my priority list when repairing the car.
