05 AUX -> Video?

I have 05 E500 with NAV. as some of you know that 357 tricks won't work on 05. Here is my another thought - we have AUX input to the head unit. What if we have an external DVD portable drive in the glove compartment and play DVD. Do you think we will see pictures in the head unit thru AUX.?

Thanks.

Is the aux input convenient to get to? For those that have attached to it, where is it?

Thanks.

And you only get the Aux. plug if you have COMAND;
Isn't it a headphone miniplug, not an RCA input?

If you install the TV Tuner, you will have two Video Input sources in the trunk. Then you can connect a DVD player, Playstation etc. to show up on the COMAND display.

too many to list
do a search...it is to activate the DVD playing capabilities on some 03 E-classes, by holding down 5, 3, and 7 until you get into the menu and change it to ECE. You can also change the intro screen from the MB logo to /////AMG

Do you lose any of the "american" command unit features when you get the euro version? For the $1500 is DVD in motion the only thing added and also does it mean that we can not use the Nav, while DVD is in use since the dvd player is in trunk?

Nav stills here. Only thing I can tell is few hard buttons different and I get "DVD in motion" now. While DVD playing the Nav works like before and it will voice out to tell me to take the turns by lowering the volume in the main speaker. Also, while DVD playing I can watch the Nav diaplay in the dashboard and I will know what turn to take. Hope I answer your question.

Thanks!

Two things I can think of that you're missing, one that you couldn't notice, one that you may not have missed:

1) no "HOME" button on the navigation screen (just program a HOME location instead)

2) the phonebook from a US-spec phone system does not transfer.

and the benefits of Euro COMAND:

1) video obviously

2) UHI works perfectly... not true with some US COMANDs.

3) support for Bluetooth

My build date is 08/04 and as soon as you open the glove compartment it is right there and you can't miss it. Not sure but do you think it is due to do with entertainment package?

Thanks!

Entertainment Package...hmmm...could be. I ordered the premium, but which had the Harmon Kardon, etc, but no package as you mention. July was a cutover month from what we have seen on the forum (glove box, etc.). Anyone else have input? Jocko, DavidiNJ?

Sorry for the double post. Just checked MBUSA site and by the looks of it the Premium package is totally inclusive of the Entertainment package. Must be the 7/04 changeover month, just like some got different glove boxes, etc.

I don't have one of those MP3 player but my dealer told me that I can plug it there and I can listen all the songs from that hand held player using that as an input.

Thanks!

Yes, I have it. BTW, the Premium Package includes the Entertainment Package, which is Harmon Kardon and CD Changer. I bet you do have this aux jack. It is a female, 1/4" Mini jack at the top front of the glove compartment when opened. But, you have to look from below to see it.

Thanks, will go looking again. Why is it the car I have with the nicest sound system and one with sat radio might also take IPod input. Too many choices!!!
