I've got an '04 E55 and somehow I got the 3-5-7 trick to work. I had tried it previously without any results so I was showing my friend how the trick was supposed to work...and it did! My problem is this...now that I've set my COMMAND system to AMG_W211 and then W211_ECU as opposed to W211_USA, I still can't play a DVD! I tried it in the Nav. DVD-RW port in the trunk, the single CD changer in the dash and my 6-disc CD changer...NOTHING. Someone help me pleaseeee!

357 only work on some 03 and some early 04. As far as I know, none of the 05 will work. I have 05 E500 and 357 will only show up that screen. But it does not have EC as an option in the 1st screen therefore it is useless and won't work. I have MBenzNL, Dean exchange a Euro command and it plays DVD in motion now.

Thanks for the help. Wierd thing is, it was an option, and I selected it, but it still doesn't work. Where do you insert the movie DVD in your '04 E500? In the single cd changer in the dash? Thanks so much for the help

Yes, the single CD slot, not DVD NAV nor 6-disc changer slot. I did excatly the same thing like you and I did 100 times 357 then wait and try and try..... and finally figure out that the option screen is there but the actual need option to play DVD is not in that 357 option screen. We have a different command unit than the euro unit which they have the DVD capability and we don't :-(

This topic has been discussed at length.. consider doing a quick search.

Brief summary:

• it's not 3-5-7; it's 5, then 3-7, hold until menu appears;
  - change to the appropriate settings
  - turn off the command (without switching screens)
  - turn off the car, leave off for about 5 minutes
  - come back and check to make sure the settings took
• both the keypad and the display need to be set to ECU
• insert the DVD into the single CD slot; you should get some sort of acknowledgement from the unit, whether or not it's able to read the DVD.
• if the settings took and it can't read the DVD, then sorry, you're out of luck; if the settings didn't take, then try again and leave the car off for a longer period of time.

Dean in MBenzNL programs my Euro command to region 1 in order to play US DVD.

'05's WILL PLAY......CD's AND DVD-audio mp3's.

Actually, I think I was the first one to have a '05 (May CDI) and who discovered it ALL and yet..........not one person has send money to my Swiss piggy bank.

thankssss dude!!!!!!!! when you say DVD-audio MP3's im assuming that you have to burn MP3's onto a DVD for it to work and not on a CD.

Ummmm....well you need a DVD disc to record DVD-audio.

Here is some instructions that I wrote (somewhere) on this board and another board.

I rip mine in VBR at the highest level. Read the link and you will understand what I mean.

Also, I burn them as data because of the limitation of my software. I seperate the albums as folders. DO NOT place folders within folders. It will be a b*tch to navigate.

The 2005's can play mp3 DVD's and as you can imagine, I have DVD's with 70 albums on them.

You sound American?? but I can only comment on the European COMAND. Yes you can burn either. (CD or DVD)

I personally use Nero software, but no doubt other software will also work.

Tried it as well -- first time, 3-5-7 worked but it only updated the AMG logo upon startup. DVD did not work and I think after reading this entire thread that this explains it all (http://www.mbenznl.com/products/w211comands.shtml). It will just not work.

However, noticed that going in again, 3-5-7 did not work and received an audible tone as if Ive set my radio pre-set. BUT holding down 3&5 together then 7 did work where I was able to get back into the menu and make adjustments.

Anyone notice the 'Developer' option on Keyboard within the 3-5-7 menu ??? Didnt want to chance fussing with it but what is it ?

Depending on what region (read as: "types of DVDs you use") you are in, I believe it does (not sure though). I recall reading something in the manual about the service department being able to change the region coding from 2 to 0, or vice-versa.

I tried the 3-5-7 trick in my E. I now have the AMG splash screen, but I have not noticed the increase in power. What gives?
