W163 calipers on a W211

Is this possible? My shop has a 2003 ML500 that we are scrapping and I’m wondering what parts I can snag for my S211 E500. Thinking about taking the engine (145k) but want to know what other parts can be swapped, if any. Did a search and can’t find much about the calipers. The one on the ML have “Mercedes Benz” on the outside, so if they fit, figured it’d be a nice touch.

Thanks!

Quick addition:

Looking at the rotor diameter, it looks like the stock W211 non-AMG is 330mm and the AMG is 360mm. The stock ML500 rotor size is 345mm. Stock wheel offset for both is 38mm.

It looks like there is a difference in center bores, but not sure if this will affect anything. W211 is 66.6mm and W163 is 66.56mm. Then there’s the question of caliper bolt locations, rotor width, etc. I’m putting 18’s on my car, so hopefully that won’t be an issue.

Anyone have any info or done this before?

That’s the conclusion I’m coming to. Is it due to the AWD setup? Just curious what the issue(s) is/are.

Thanks!

Never mind, answered my own question. I just looked at the caliper placement and it’s all wrong. Thanks for the response!

Reviving the thread as I just thought of something with the calipers and placement: Is it possible to move the calipers to the opposite sides and flip them, the theoretically now they’re in the correct position as far as brake lines and bleeder nipples go?

Since you are taking apart the W163 anyways, pull the calipers and test fit them to your W211. About 15 minute job to do.
Leaves out guesstimating regarding fitment.

That’s my plan at the moment. We’re not taking it apart, just taking it to a dismantler. Trying to decide if I have the time to remove the engine as it has 142k on it, as a spare for my E500….

330mm E350 sport and E550 brakes are a proven upgrade for the E500 and dirt cheap. They also fit inside the smallest 211 16" wheels.

Looking up the rotors, they are already 330mm in the front. The ML is 345mm plus it’s mainly due to the fact that they’re nicer looking calipers, have “Mercedes-Benz” on them, and they’re free, the calipers anyway. If I didn’t have easy access to them, I wouldn’t bother. I’m planning on removing the calipers from the ML today and will attempt to mount them once I get my E500 back from the dealer after the recall repair.

Another update: I looked at the caliper on the ML and the brake hose attaches at a different location and via a different method, so it'll definitely be more involved and not worth it, IMO. The brake line attaches to the caliper via a banjo bolt and then runs to the body where it attaches to the hard line. The W211 caliper has the brake line thread directly into the caliper and is MUCH shorter. I'm sure I could make it work, but I'd rather not.
