Wiring TeleAid to ACC (Fuse85) to Mitigate Battery Drain
Pulling the fuse has completely fixed my problems, but now I get an SRS warning on the dash- I assume because it is connected to SOS.
I had the car coded as tele aid not present, but I have my next and previous track buttons mapped to the phone buttons. When it is coded as not present and I skip tracks, the instrument cluster screen shows a warning that the phone is unavailable. So I can’t go that route.
My next idea is to break open the pre fuse box and cut the connection of that fuse to battery power, then pull in an ACC wire and attach it instead. That way it only draws when the car is on, and it’s still “present” so I don’t get warnings on the dash using the phone buttons.
Do you guys see anything wrong with this? I just didn’t and to have it set off airbags - I have no idea how connected the system is. Or maybe there is a way to disable that phone message without coding the phone as not present?

You can use the electrical schematics to identify the unit. WIS with schematics is available from charm.li. Either review them online or download the .zip file. If you have Windows 10 or 11 you may need to install an aftermarket download manager because of the size of the .zip file (1.2GB). My version of Win11 would choke and 1.0GB and abort the download.
Whomever coded your car previously (using Star / Xentry) can do this.

if coding doesn’t fix it and the part is cheap I might jus throw it in.
I had no idea it also tied into SRS, so I’ll go into that menu and see if setting it not present there disables the check. Good idea!

a couple of weeks ago all on its.own, SRS fault. And i cannot communicate with the module. I am ok communicating with SRS module of course.
I suspect the tele module has gone bad and by default triggers light. I wonder if I can just discinnect.it all.
Id like to reduce the number of electronics unecessary in this car.

removing SOS did not change any of the functions of the phone of which I had the Bluetooth puck installed Up to 2019 in a 55 I sold that year.

I recall buying a fiber optic loop many years ago. will check if it's still in that particular car. Haha. Sme of us have had these cars for so many years, maybe cannot recall everything weve done.
