Drive Dynamic seat resets on own

I am almost positive that I do not touch the settings on my seat and every now and then the seat swtiches off and I either have to press my memory option button or the actual switch on the seat to re-activate. This occurs more with the driver's side. It would be nice for some one to be surpsrisingly wowed by the gadget without me have to lean over and hit the button on the seat or ask them to press and hold the memory seat button.

Does anyone else experience this?

Also, does anyone know how the Level #1 and Level #2 customization settings, via the steering wheel menu, differ from each other?

This has happened in my car a number of times. There seems to be no pattern, so I have no idea why it happens. When I notice it isn't working, I just turn it back on with the seat button. When it does happen, it is off when I start the car.

The same thing happens with the passenger seat.

Mine does that also. I came to the (possibly wrong) conclusion that my right calf was pushing the button when i leave the car, turning off the seat. I think it stays in the last used mode, so when I return, eventually I notice that the seat is off. This assumption could be entirely wrong, however, and maybe the seat is operating on its own accord. The car does seem to have its own electronic "personality"!

I have it intermittenly. Also, lumbar is erratic at times, and thight support. Sometimes DD turns off and cant be turned back on without restarting the car.

I've noticed my DD will usually stay on if I only use the car with the key, i.e. driving the car somewhere. However, several times when I just sat in the car listening to the stereo without using a key, then the next time I drive somewhere my DD is off and I have to turn it back on. I haven't verified the correlation between using/not using a key affecting DD, but I'll try to see if the theory is correct this weekend.

I have my dynamic seats set to level 2. The right bolsters on the driver and passenger sides is much more active than the left bolsters. The dealer said this is normal. Has anyone else experienced this?

Angry

Same here. It resets itself to the OFF position every 3rd to 4th time I use the car.

Same exact thing here. I too like my passengers to get the little "surprise" when I make a sharp turn rather than me having to tap the button for them.

Level 1 & Level 2 refer to the amount of inflation response of the bolsters to the same identical stimuli.

I had always thought that the seats turn themselves off if you move the seat electrically from its memorized position, fooling the car into thinking someone else was now driving & the new driver would turn the seats back on if they wanted it on, and that is why when you press a memorized driver button they go back on. Maybe it is linked to "key dependancy" being turned on or off in set-up.

Once again, not a hardware problem, but crappy, obtuse, software program writing combined with poorly written technical information in the form of owners manuals & service manuals. No one's quite sure what the engineers had in mind so its tough to say whether the feature is "Working as Designed" or not, so lets delete it... so MB will be going backwards to sturdy, safe cars with few bells & whistles.

Same thing goes for me. Kinda embarrassing having to ask my passenger to move their leg so I could hit the DD switch.

Drive Dynamic seat - Level 1 and Level 2 difference

Level 1 - Comfort
Less lateral support and slow air pressure build-up in the air chambers of the backrest side bolsters.

Level 2 - Sporty
Strong lateral support and fast air pressure build-up in the air chambers of the backrest side bolsters.

So let me understand this. You guys are saying that normal operation for the passenger dynamic seat is that it should come on automatically when someone sits down in the passenger seat? My passenger seat has never done that. The passenger or myself has always needed to turn the seat on or press the memory button everytime.

But the driver's seat comes on everytime I start the car.

If the passenger adjusts his seat, turns on the drive dynamic seat & THEN memorizes the seat position to the driver 1, 2 & 3 positions, the seat will automatically default to " DD ON" whenever you start the car & someone's in the seat.

BTW, what do you think of the convenient to see location of the LED " DD seat on" indicator light?

Based on cetripetacentripetal force calculation.

What LED light?

Mine turns off in what seems like a random pattern. Maybe my wife drives the car and resets the seat and that turns it off. I'll have to test that out now.
