E350 Coupe for a week.
My fiancee works for MB Canada and here is her demo E350 coupe with Navi and sport packs.

I think the coupe is beautiful, but it is such a shame about the small triangular section of window that spoils the 'pillarless' look. I wonder whether this was for structual safety, or just a design error.

Honestly...I didnt even notice that till you pointed it out. It's probably due to wind noise or something.

Also interesting to note that the sunroof slides above now instead of under.
Did you even look at the pic?

Wow, my favourite part of the new Coupe is those SEATS! Those look wicked.
The glass sliding over the roof seems a bit reminiscent of cheap sunroof hack jobs no?
Any pics of that M3 behind it?

This demo is a limited edition of 50 in Canada 25 -350's & 25 -550's--Special Designo interior and titanium wheels-- Called the Prime Edition--black interior with metallic grey leather inserts on the seats and the door panels.
The small windows at the back are to accomodate the fuel filler pipe on the right side--left side to match

Also, the pano roofs all slide over, not inside.

Actually, if that little triangular section was not there, then the rear window would not be able to be rolled all of the way down (an even worse look!). This is due to the "pontoon" styling cues in the rear quarter panels and so a tradeoff was made.

With the CLK though (W209), you could role the back down all the way and no fixed glass. The CL's are like that too, love that feature as most coupes (almost all out there) have a fixed rear window (unless you get convertible).

Hmm, interesting. I would have definitely preferred them to axe the "pontoon" (apparently inspired) hump, to in turn as well axe the weird little fixed glass thingy.

The first two coupes that I recently saw on the road struck me as being very unattractive. The front end styling, although immediately apparent as a Mercedes, doesn't quite work for me and the rear quarter panel is a styling disaster. My immediate reaction was "how ugly !". Yet, in many of the MB press photos, the car (with closed sunroof) appears to be very attractive.

Yeah it's really hit or miss with me too. I see some in pics and I'm like "wow that actually looks pretty good", then I see it in person, and am almost immediately turned off. The front looks like it has a big ol' snaggle tooth or something, it seems pretty bland and boring albeit trying relatively hard to look extreme, a little incoherent, etc. I really want to like it, but just can't get too in to it. I never really liked this past CLK at all either though.
The current CL, albeit a bit too "generic" looking considering what you're paying is so much more class, not only because of its status, but the design is much more relaxed and refined.

I liked the current gen CLK before the exterior facelift. Idk why, but from behind, I like the 03 - 05 CLKs way more than the 06+ ones. The facelifted ones look "fatter" from behind or something.

i agree that the small triangle in the back ruined the sleek look, i don't really like the back either......
or maybe i just jealous i only have the w209....hahahaha

Finally saw a couple of Coupes driving today, totally GOOFY (cartoon-y almost looking from the front, not bad from the side, and boring from the back, a true character mash-up.

The front is OK look but the rear is still ugly as the 4 doors.
That seat looks very unconfortable...... for a coupe, i rather the Audi A5 in and out much better...

Well since the sedan has the pontoon appearance and the E class Coupe shares more with the E than the C, I guess they just decided the tradeoff was worth it rather than design separate rear panels for coupe.

From what I've gathered the Coupe shares much more with the C than the E? Besides some aesthetics and techno goodies, etc.
You can definitely tell the interior is more C than E, and the times I did see it driving, the overall shape and demeanor of the car made me think it was a C at very first

the car is small like a C. REally looks like a C. It is built on a modified C-class chasis. It's more C than E.
