New 2010 E 550 Owner!

Just picked up a loaded Arctic White / Sport / 4Matic / Premium 2 / Pano Roof / Almond and black interior / etc. this past weekend. I love this car and can't wait to get past the 1,000 mile break in period and open it up a little more!

Getting the windows tinted and 3M protective bra on tomorrow. Will also be ordering a rear spoiler to tidy up the backside.

Will you be posting your impressions of the car once you get past the break-in?

Did you consider any other cars before choosing the new E-Class?

I plan on posting my impressions as I break the car in. I hope I can add some useful info to this forum!

As far as considering any other cars - I briefly considered an Audi S6, as I had an A4 a few years ago that I really enjoyed. I just haven't driven a car that I have felt is as solid, sporty, and well-made as Mercedes so the decision was pretty easy.

Although the bugs are super nasty, the bra will end up damaging your finish more. Clean it up after every trip, and loose the bra if the finish is important to you.

Enjoy...

By "bra" he means the clear film, not one of those black strap-ons. Or maybe you knew this already?

Does the film damage the paint?

I am getting the clear "bra" installed. I can't imagine that a clear bra would do any damage to a finish - if it does, I have never seen signs of it after having it on most cars I have owned.

I cannot imagine that it would, or 3M would face huge liability claims.

I thought you were talking about a bra bra. Sorry.

I have no experience with the clear film, apparently I like to suffer.

Wow. A blast from the past. I haven't seen one of those things on a car for eons. Do they still even make them?

I don't mind at all - I just don't know exactly how much the 3M alone costs because I paid the dealership one price to tint my windows and install the 3M. If I remember correctly, I believe the 3M was about $400 installed.

To me, it is well worth the cost. I hate washing my car and finding chips in the paint! Plus, you can't even notice it on the car.

I will be back in town next week and will get some pictures to share with the board.

Some dealers have a car in the showroom with the clear bra installed. All you can see is a slight line where the film ends.

Much of the cost is probably installation, so it will vary.
