replacing OEM door lock knobs

So this weekend I tried to change the OEM door lock knobs - AND I probably should have left well-enough alone. The front 2 were fairly easy to do, unscrew the knobs and put new ones one- no probs, except they are really hard to unscrew. Now for the rear-ones. I though it would be as simple. You cannot unscrew them. I finally pulled them off to reveal a ball and socket type joint. I pulled this off too and discovered that the thread is all different. So now I have no rear door lock knobs. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this myself before I head to the dealer and admit I'm an idiot.

I want to change the look. I really hate the black plastic door knobs to the point where it really began to bug me. I ordered a set of 4 Brabus chrome pins & surrounds. At this point, I may just shove teflon tape into the pins and force them into the thread to stick. - unless anyone has better ideas. If all else fails, I may just have to go back to dealer and reinstall the black plastic cheapo ones.

Don't go to the dealer. Just go to your local mechanic, which you trust and install those Brabus pins. It won't cost a lot.

Check out the C class thread for some alternatives. Seems your not the only one that doesn't like the black plastic oem's. On a side note, on the C thread it appears that breaking off the rear door pins is quite common and the dealerships have replaced them free of charge. Just something to keep in mind.

Bump for an old thread because I'm having the same problem for my 2012 C250. Any help on my thread would be appreciated!
