Which car would you rather buy just based off looks?
If money wasn't an issue, and the C and E had same features, did the same stuff, etc, which car would you rather buy if looks was the only factor?

I have got the same problem but finally decided to go for the E cause its a new shape and will be around for much longer as I plan to keep mine for 5 years at least. I,lld also go for the E cos it is a bigger car, the same way I,lld go for the S if like you said money wasnt an issue.

I agree.
And as far as looks goes, IF ALL OTHER ASPECTS REMAIN THE SAME on both cars (ie: all features, options, color combos, interior space, exterior length, engine power, driving/performance/handling, price, etc), I prefer the C-Class styling more. The front looks much better/cohesive IMO, and the back looks... fine (a bit boring, but WAY BETTER than the E-Class rear). As far as interior goes, I like how the E-Class is more luxurious and seems to be less "plasticky" (except on the main center console), but I can live with the C-Class interior.

Just on looks alone, I like the C more for what it is and competes against. C needs to look tough for the class it competes in. I think the E is trying to look tough in a class where it should look more luxurious.

So I assumed that it's based on looks only... exterior (and possibly interior I guess)...

I went for the E350 because it looks more bigger and stronger. Maybe it's because of my age late 40's, the c class looks better for younger ones.

Probably still the E. I am "OK" with the rear of the 212. But the front/sides/interior of the 212 are in my view one of the best looking on the road today.

Let me clear some things up...this is based on EXTERIOR looks only. It's funny how the results are TOTALLY opposite from the C-Class forum
