Storage - what do you put and where?

Storage - what do you put and where?
As a new MB e-350 owner, I'm discovering lots of storage slots.
I've got the manual and my ipod in the glovebox.
Coins in the front ashtray
Napkins in the side door storage compartment (i'm hesitant to put anything else in there as I don't want it to rattle when I'm listening to music)
In the storage compartment under the front seat, I've got a bag of lifesavers for the long commutes in traffic.
In the center, I've got sunglasses, gum, my vehicle chargers and my parking cards.
What are you all doing?

Keep a bottle of heineken in the cupholders. Kidding. No good place to keep altoids in case you need something curiously strong.
seriously. i'd love to find some kind of tray that would replace the ashtray - would be a good place to put the key while driving.

It's too bad they did away with the sunglasses tray. That was a good stash place.
I'm guessing you can get OEM pads for the W212 ashtray both front and rears, like in the W211s, right? Remove the ashtrays and pop in the pads and you've got new storage spots.

what are these pads? my fingers can't properly grip the coins in the ash tray with the metal part on the top.
very interested. May have to try and modify the ash tray if I get desperate. Put a little felt in the bottom and break off that metal part and file it down.

In the W211s, you take the ashtray completely out and put in a MB fitted rubber pad that you can buy from the dealer. Then you've got a nice new storage area with a door. Same with the two rear ashtrays in the doors.
I'm assuming you can do the same with the new W212s.

I put cash everywhere.....
door pockets change
center - at least $10K cash...$100 bills
storage compartment under the front seat - cocaine and other cool stuff,
so it's as close as possible when I need it.
glovebox - more cash - today is about $50K there.....$1000 bills
Sometimes i put dead bodies in the trunk....the best spot for this....
My car is usually parked in NYC, corner of 3rd ave and 68th street. Black E350 4Matic....tinted windows....
oh...I forgot.....German Sheppard usually sleeps in the back....![crazy](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/crazy.gif)

The 212 has tons of storage spots without the shifter there, however I remember someone bringing up a really clever place to store "valuables" in a 211. If you have a pre-09, where the CD Changer door is the hydraulic/mechanical lifting piece, and do away with the Changer, you can put a storage tray in there, and use that as an ultimate hiding spot. Unless someone is very savvy with the car, there's no way to really know that piece opens/lifts up, even that little chrome piece you gotta press doesn't really appear to be much of a "button".

front of the drivers seat was made EXACTLY for what I'm using it for. (2 pepper sprays, a knife, kubaton, handcuffs.) Also the police scanner sits in the glove box using the extra 12v and aux in jacks so I can easily use COMMAND to check whats up in the area.

On a previous car I just pulled the metallic cigarette holder out and lined the tray with felt with adhesive on one side.
Thought about doing this on my W212, but the opening is large enough that I can reach in with no problem. Just dropped a bunch of coins in and they don't rattle so I'm leaving as is.
BTW, I don't like the storage box on the front of the seat. When I set the cruise and pull my leg back, the box hits the back of my leg. Annoying. Tried adjusting the seat, but that doesn't work with way I prefer to set it.
Console box is nice and large, but some dividers would help, especially since it is so deep things may tend to get buried. Actually a dual level box would be better, but apparently M-B decided not to do that.
