New member, inexpensive mods info + pics
New here and I figured I would share some information on some simple mods I've done in the past couple weeks.
My dad recently took delivery of this E550 after trading in his CLS550. So far he loves the car and is quite happy with his choice. Since I've been researching W211 E55's for a quite a while and I've been lurking on this forum for a while now, but I recently have been helping my pops break his modding cherry and I thought some of you may be interested.
First mod was an OEM style rear trunk lip spoiler. This was purchased from an ebay store. I was a little worried about quality but after a phone call they assured me of the fitment and paint match. I was pretty impressed with how it turned out for around 160 bucks IIRC.

After trying to source some OEM aluminum sport sedan pedals for a decent price, we had these custom cut. After a couple tries and working with the company the result worked out pretty well. Good quality, somewhat easy installation and great fitment.
I've been pushing for a set of wheels and a lowering module, but I think he is a little too convervative for that. Here's an artist rendition.
Anyone else discovered inexpensive mods for this model yet?

You can get them in a variety of surfaces. I think this car was the first W212 he did so we worked out all the fitment on them for the new model.

Has anyone sourced clear or smoked front sidemarker lenses yet?
It'd be nice to ditch the orange, but I don't want to have to pull, sand, paint and clear the current ones. I also don't like having open sockets with no bulbs in the housing.

If I had a 212 I'd be hunting down E63 tinted headlights! Subtle but lends a nice touch to the front.
Good choice of mods, simple yet effective. The rear lip IMO is a must to help with the 212's rear end.
That P.S you did looks very aggressive, almost can't tell it's chopped! Did you play with the color of the car? Not only does it look diamond shiny, but it looks like it changes color! Looks real cool.

I think the pedals were around 160-180 shipped.
In the PS picture the mercury vapor lights in the back of our shop make the paint really look outstanding. They throw off a purpley hue and it really highlights the lines of the car you photograph back there.
Here is Barolo red under those light, that color really popped.
And the new 550 color

Yikes, that lighting makes the cars look other-worldly, like they've been edited and glossified to pop very dramatically, especially the colors, which allow the lines to really shine.
Man I would love to get some pics of my ride in that Garage!
The way that Blue shines and hue's with that mercury vapor lighting is stunning, I know the color doesn't look like that under natural light, but WOW if M-B released a color that looked just like that, with the purple hue mixed in, I'd be all over it. Very nice.

Here are the AMG (OEM parts) selling at your MB dealer ($45-$50 for all 3 pieces), just take out the rubber pedals, replace with OEM AMG pedal, no drilling, no sweat, just 15 minutes & a cold beer afterward :
1. A 170 300 00 04 (accelerator pedal, replace as a whole piece).
2. A 170 290 01 82 (main brake, take out the old one, slip in this one).
3. A 203 430 00 84 (parking brake, do as main brake).
