2006 E350 Station Wagon about to go out of warranty

Our very sound, 2006 E350 station wagon will soon go out of factory warranty. The car has had all routine maintenance, including oil changes at 6K mile intervals.

I intend to bring the car to an independent shop that specializes in M-B for a front to back inspection before the warranty runs out.

Any other suggestions?

I contemplated the M-B extended warranty, but found it to be very expensive. Has anyone found an extended warranty that they are pleased with?

Thank you.

My 2006 warranty went a few weeks ago. I had purchased the car used last summer, and bought the Zurich extended at time of purchase. My dealer suggested buying the Zurich, rather than the factory one. The price difference was about $1400. The Zurich was $2400 and added 3 years and mileage to 75000. I didn't examine the MeBe warranty too carefully, but I think it added less time to the warranty, and maybe less mileage. I haven't had to use it yet, so can't tell you how it works. The dealer was very enthusiastic about it, compared to the factory one.

My 2006 e320 will expire in about two weeks. Last week I purchased the Chrysler warranty. I got the four year unlimited mileage for $3,060. Here is the link:

You're going to find this somewhat disingenuous, but I haven't any idea what a W211 is. I assume it is some alternate system for categorization of Mercedes Benz models. There was a kinder gentler time when a 220 D was a 4 cylinder diesel sedan.

And it was called the W115.

Not some alternate system of models, but Daimler's system of chassis codes. The model names (e.g., 220D) differentiate the specific cars within the chassis family codes (e.g., W115.)

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I'm being a little picky. I had 8 or 10 MeBe's back in the day when things were somewhat simpler, and have just gotten back into the genre. Although their present chassis code system is semi-confusing, their present service guidelines approach incomprehensiblilty.
