We miss so much here in the US when it comes to options. It is not always clear why.

I was browsing MB Germany website after I learned about upcoming AMG packages for the new E class and I stumbled upon this. Warning: this might make you drool.

Why the U.S doesn't even get this as an option is beyond me. The Designo package fixes about everything I don't like about the 212's interior. It looks superb in the official photo's.

Can't blame Benz, buyers just don't care, as long as the badge is prominent they'll assume they're riding in the almighty lap of luxury, whilst sitting on friggin' plastic seats, and under a headliner that can give them rug burn it's so scratchy.

Annoying, Euro spec 212's really take the cake. M-B USA adjusts to the American buyer, which frankly, dumbs down the brand.

thats what i have ,, my e550coupe in canada they call it PRIME edition, only 50 made. complete designo interior.

I think your E550coupe might be what is called a launch edition in the USA.

But you can definitely special order some designo options in the USA I just think many dealers do not order their none sold cars that way at all.

I know on the E-Class cab the following colors designo options are available for special order at least on the Cab as I order a on Feb 2. I was giving the following "upgrade color options" for seats on E550 Cab. I was told these are not full Designo options which is why they cost significantly less as normal Designo seats have 2 8XX combos and these have 2XX/8XX combo.

seat options are based on body paint chosen

Option offered on 040 paint only is 851 Black Nappa Leather(Black/Black) + 736 Black Ash Wood and black inside lining on Top- $2395 upgrade ($995 from Sports Appearance seats included in 321 package which is 801 standard seats are 201)

Option offered on 197,230 and 799 paint only is 258/858 Black/Alpaca Grey + 731 Burr Walnut and Aplaca Grey inside lining on Top- $2395 upgrade ($995 from Sports Appearance seats included in 321 package which is 801 standard seats are 201)

Option offered don't remember exterior colors this is offered on as I did not like the combo myself is 255/855 Black/Almond Beige + 731 Burr Walnut and Almond Beige inside lining on Top- $2395 upgrade ($995 from Sports Appearance seats included in 321 package which is 801 standard seats are 201)

Now while I know the above 4 combo's are not extensive as the options offered in Germany their are still some options offered at in the US by special order only. On the Cab for sure and I have a felling on the Coupe and Sedan as well. I personally order the Black Nappa Leather upgrade and Black Ash wood upgrade.

Btw in case you do not understand how the color combo's work the first color is the color of the seats excluding the middle and 2nd color is what is in the middle of the seats and middle of the side panel.

i had no choice , either i wait for 3 month to get a coupe or i pick up this PRIME editition (designo). its comes the way it is. i love it.. my seats are beautifull my interior feels so sporty .. nesides the car has everything i want in it. every single option i have except backup camera.

This thread just got me to change my order to get the Designo-interior.. !!

As it was not possible to add Designo to the 2010-model of W212, I switched to a 2011-model, delivered august/september (1 months later than my old 2010-order)

Will get it with the X11 black leather with white piping + black piano panels!!



I love it !!

Oh by the way - exterior will be Diamond white bright metallic .. first W212 with that paint - special order

Here is the german prices in EURO, I bet the US prices are like half of these I hate you all!

I dont live in Germany but I do live in Europe and our prices reflects these pretty good.




yes, I know everything is in german but you will probably manage to understand it anyway.

I got the X11 (black with white piping leather)
+ W69 (piano-black inlays(?))

Also was about to get the designo mystic white 2 or the designo magno caschmire white (matte paint) but went with the upcoming diamond white .. its nice enough

So my designo choices was about 5600 euro = aprx 7500 usd.
I skipped the leather on the dashboard for 2800 eur (3800 usd), too expensive for me. But I am still able to change my order for a short period of time so I might change my mind

Thanks for sharing that. Yeah but we don't get much options here, just leather or MB-TEX! I got my 2010 with MB-TEX since I didn't notice much difference on black interior, I mean the leather option is not worth the $1,500 extra IMO.... But the Designo is worth getting...

Yes - in sweden it is not a possible option until late this year with delivery next year q1-q2.

In germany it is possible to order today but leadtime is 5 months so it will probably be out on normal order-cars late this year ..

I get mine as the first W212(S212)car out in august this as I understand - some special fix my mb-dealer did with MB germany

So it will be really fun and Ill share some pics as soon as I have it !

Diamond white has been available in Asia. I've seen one 2 months ago on benz dealer, very nice color.

Why doesn't MB offer these options in the USA? The cars are all made on the same assembly line. Does anyone have an idea if these options will be available here for MY '11?

You can order most designo options in Canada/US, it's just not widely known.

Diamond white is availible on the E Coupe and Cabrio,
but it should not have been done on any W212/S212 yet what I know - i might be wrong - but MB germany told my dealer the system was not yet setup for the W212/S212 and my car will be first out - probably ruined haha

I might be wrong - it was what I was told anyway...

I think you are correct , it was on E coupe that I saw. I was about to buy it but they won't take my offer. I only asked 2.5% off from MSRP (USD175K for E350c). Unbelievable.
