HomeLink Loses Settings
My Homelink buttons on my 2010 e350 have lost their settings about five times now. It will affect all three buttons at once (one gate, two garages). Suddenly, none of them will work. I took it to the dealer, they couldn't find a problem. They even sent someone to my home to reprogram everything and, after about four months, it just happened again. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Is this happening to anyone else? Thanks!

Hasn't happened to me and I've owned two '10's with my gate and garage door on it.
If what you are opening is battery and/or solar powered as our gate is
check that. If our gate battery gets too low the codes go haywire and I have to re-program the HomeLink.
Make sure your using the rolling code procedure if applicable also.

I have had the same problem. I found that if I left the car unused for more than 3 days, the garage door settings on the car loose their programing. It has happened three times now. I will have checked at my dealer next week.

It's not caused by a battery or solar issue. It affects all three unrelated devices at the exact same time, so it's definitely an issue with the car, not the openers.

I'm having the same issue - first time last week and couldn't figure it out. I reprogrammed but haven't yet taken it to the dealer/ Funny problem starting coming up for several people all at the same time

Initially I had the problem that when I programed my GDO and then set up another GDO (at another home) somehow it would lose the settings for the other cars for that GDO. After that the first programed GDO would lose its codes. Finally, just reset the entire thing (using the reset procedure for getting rid of the car) and then set them up individually again. Seemed to work after the reset - so far.

I have the same problem and it is very annoying. The dealer has no suggestions how to fix it. First they told me that I must have pushed the "Delete" buttons. Nonsense, I am not holding the two outside buttons simultaneously when adjusting the mirror.

I have had to reset mine 3 times, all over the past 3 or so months. It just stops working for no apparent reason. I use my car almost every day so it is not due to it sitting unused, nor have I had changes to the garage door opener or electrical problems with my house. I will ask the dealer at my next service next week. Will post what I find out.

Here is what I learned, 207 & 212 security feature removes coding as designed in case someone removes mirror from vehicle. MB is aware and is in the process of releasing a fix. I would suggest waiting about 15-30 days before scheduling a service visit at which time have the SA note SDS patch 1411 and instruct technician to contact TAC if questions arise so issue is resolved before releasing vehicle.

The dealer applied software patch 1411 to the vehicle, which is supposed to correct problems with rolling code door openers. So far so good. Will post again if the problem returns. Thanks for the info!

I've been having this problem too. The service tech at my dealership is telling me they won't apply s/w patch 1411 because the car's diagnostic code isn't reporting there to be an issue. How do you get HomeLink to generate an error when it is loosing its programming??

demand they contact TAC (MBUSA technical assistance center) the patch was released to give owner the choice to turn off security feature - cause for repeated resets.

Thanks Konigstiger for your fast response! I called them and escalated the issue and they were able to apply the patch before I picked up the car. Now, we'll just see if it works....

MBWorld Fanatic!
It happens to mine occasionally. I found that if I clear all codes out and reset seems to correct the problem for a longer period of time. It is now approximately six months since my last reset.

It happened to me again last week. (6th time now) My service advisor told me that they do not have a repair solution at this moment. I showed him this thread, and apparently they do not have knowledge of the patch 1411. They even questioned it.

Update:
The dealer finally replaced my entire rear view mirror. So far, so good -- but it's only been a few weeks. I had stretches like that before when everything worked. I will be sure to post if it fails again. Good luck, everyone.

My 2010 E350 is only 4 months old and this has happened 3 times now. I have a 2010 S550 and it has never happened.
Anyone been to the dealer and come out with an explanation? I know this has nothing to do with the garage door, it IS the car.

I dont know if this is the same problem, but from what I found out (and it worked for me)...IF you have a garage door with "rolling codes". You have to get up on a ladder, reset the opener (ususally a red button on the side of the main unit)...get down and into your car (which should be parked outside of the garage) within 20 seconds and punch the button on the mirror you want to activate that specific door (I have 3 doors), punch that button 3 times (about 2 seconds apart). Don't know why its not in the manaul, but I called MBUSA and it worked for me like a charm. I will let you know if I lose conectivitey in the future.
