window tint
thinking of darkening my e550's windows a bit. I have never done this to a car before. What would I expect to pay and is it something I should have done at the dealer?

I tinted my E550 at the dealer (and had a 3M Clear Bra installed at the same time - highly recommended in Colorado) and it was less than $1k for both - can't remember the exact price. The dealers generally has a reputable group that have tinted several E's, so I thought it was a good way to go.
See if your installer has Huper Optik, which is a ceramic tint. I had it on an Audi I owned a handful of years ago and it was amazing at reducing heat transfer from sunlight. Just a thought.

Suntek offers a film (HP 50) that is identical to the blue glass on earlier models. I am considering this over the traditional black tint on my artic white E550 w/pano roof. Any suggestions on which one to choose?

I think the Blue with Arctic White/Pano would look really class. Those mix of colors seem like they'd just look fresh.
I'd consider that myself, but I want my Tints dark, and with Blue, of course you have to keep it light, and OEM looking.
Only thing I'd wonder about with the Blue Tint, is that the stock Tint in the 212 is Green, I don't know if that hue would affect the Blue in any way.

The funny thing about having the dealer tint/clear bra your car is they don't actually do it . Your car is simply taken to a speciallty shop of their choice and they pocket the 30-50% markup. It's best to shop around and find out which speciallty shops are recommended by your local dealers.

Yeah, a Dealer gave me the name and info of the Shop where they take their cars to. So I went right to the source.
.... And have an apt with them to get my new E all tinted up this week, finally! I feel like my pants are off when I'm driving in a car with no Tints.

it should cost somewhere between 100-150 depending on your hook-ups. This is done outside of the stealership

you get what you pay for with tint. $100-150 is super, super cheap. My current tint job cost me $350 but has a nationwide lifetime warranty. I've gotten $150 tint jobs with lesser materials and they were 'ok' but I had issues down the road (dyed film instead the better type).
should say....from an independent shop. The dealership would always mark that job up with no tangible benefit to the owner.
