New engines rolling into E550s Twin turbo?

Just wondering, since s and cl and cls are getting the new 550 engines twin turbo and also the 63s are getting twin turbos.

So whats up with the e??? any new updates? Think they will be throwing in the new 550 twinturbos into the new e classes?

I couldnt find any news on them just as of yet......... It be aggravating once you get a e550 with 382hp NA engine and in couple months the twin turbo arrives also as an 2011.... I WOULD BE PISSED

My understanding is that the E class is indeed getting the new engine in 2012.

New direct injection engines are due late 2011 as a MY2012 for the E350 & 550. These engines will have improved HP & gas mileage vs. the current engines but it will be unknown if MB will have the same issues that Porsche & BMW are having with their DI systems.

Hilarious. People that get pissed about engine changes for an upcoming model year should probably stay better informed. Those who don't care about such things won't care anyway or even know.

The people who would definitely be pissed however don't usually go through that because they're here and they say informed. Rumors about new engines have been floating for years.

That is the question isn't it? I'm sure that is why they're only rolling them out in the CL550, CL63 and S63 this fall, very limited number.

By the time the new engines (especially the volume "350" models) hit the E, C, ML etc. they'd better be right. E350/C350/ML350s are like Camrys here.

Right now I'd personally be pissed if I was one of 2 people:

1- Someone who bought a P1 2010 W212 with the double-fogs, to find out that M-B non-publizedly put LED "fogs" on all P1+ models starting in 2011.

2- Someone who bought a 2010 E63 (and payed close to full price, i.e not utilizing the insane deals going on with them right now), to find out 2011's get the MUCH needed Alcantara headliner back, with a stitched dash to boot.

Would-a, could-a, should-a...you can't worry about it. The current engines are proven with sufficiant power and a very good maintenance record. I totally dig my car. No one is going to crush my groove saying I should be pissed because their MAY be a new engine sometime. OF course their will be...BFD ...I don't have buyers remorse in the least bit.

As time goes on, there will ALWAYS be newer and "better" and more features included in the car. That's how things go... one iteration (usually) improves on the last one.

That being said, for those people that already bought their W212, almost all of them fall under one of two catagories:

1) They really don't care about future enhancements... they just want the car NOW! And if they really want the future enhancements, they can afford to buy/lease another car.

2) They really don't know about or care about future enhancements... all they know is that they like the car (enough) as it is and chose to buy now (either because of a need or desire). If want the future enhancements, then they'll consider another W212 (or successor) in the future whenever they consider another new (or CPO) car.

For those that care (enough) about future enhancements... they would have at least done enough research to know what was rumored (or probably) going to come around. They also (most likely) wouldn't buy a first-year car since typically those have the LEAST "new" or "better" enhancements in the model lifetime... usually they buy products towards the end-of-life because it will usually contain the most "advanced" and "new" features of the product line (until the next generation comes out).

That being said, any way you look at it is a cycle, with typically the next year's model surpassing the previous year's model in advanced features and technology. It all comes down to what you're willing to pay for it... and how long do you want to wait...

Yeah, it's the nature of cars and car buying. Buy what you want, need, and can be happy with for a while. And then don't look back. Or lease.

It was a pretty calculated move on MB's part. Offer a new body style first. Generate interest with it. Then add new motors just a couple of MYs later. That will re-invigorate interest and sales. Some people will feel "cheated" but if you feel that way, then always lease. Or save money by buying with end of the cycle heavy discounting and be happy with the "old" version. But try never to buy the first year a new one is released and at MSRP.

We all know the reason manufacturers keep "improving" and adding to existing MYs is to keep sales going. Most people buy cars to get something new and with fresh technology. Otherwise we'd all be buying used cars and car makers would go out of business. It's also why lucrative "consumer pays for the depreciation, then the car is resold" leasing was invented.
