Sometimes small changes are the best changes! (Hockey Stick LEDS)

Being as though a lot of us own/lease a W212 in this forum, it's not surprising that most of us would agree but man those little hockey stick LEDs were one of the first things to catch my eyes when I saw the first few 212s on the road in late 09'.

Not sure, why I made a thread about this... I guess it's an LED appreciation thread.

Not even hockey sticks, the straight LEDs they started putting on the S class in 2010 (I think) made the car so much more gorgeous.

IMO Hockey sticks LED's>>straight LED's(they look out of place or something is missing)

Love my hockey stick LED's and I have had few people tell me that they made the car looked gorgeous and unique on the road

It's funny because if I remember right, a lot of people were dissing the hockey stick LED's when they first came out. I like them a lot, although I think my car is going to have the straight ones.

I guess the LED DRLs are either a love or hate affair for many of us...

And I have to agree that the "hockey-stick" LED has it own uniqueness in a way to catch attention on the road.

But, the new "straight line" DRL is very attractive and sporty, too!

I love the LED's too. But I can say that even in the 5 months I've owned my car, they've gone from rare novelties (people would just stop and stare at the LED's), to utterly common. SO many cars are jumping on the bandwagon, and not to mention, P1 W212's getting them starting in 2011.

It kind of sucks, as sooner than later, I'm sure we'll be seeing them on literally everything. The hockey-stick shape is definitely an exclusive-for-W212 look though.

I like the straight-across ones too, although they are a more "normal" design. They have a clean and classy look. I think I saw one a Luxury on the road with them yesterday, and they look really good when lit up.

I also like the S Class straight ones a lot better. The look like the 997.2 led lamps. Discreet.

When driving in Europe seeing an E class approaching from a distance with straight LEDs always have me expecting an AMG, but when they get closer it’s a little disappointing to see an ordinary E class. I haven’t seen any straight LED E class on the road yet but over here whenever I see straight LEDs from a distance it’s always an AMG.

I'll have to drive up to NJ with my 2011 E550 Luxury! It's nice to know that my configuration is not one of the crowd!

Sorry, K-A C207 P2 hockey-stick shape LEDs. I had to pay over $6,000.(P2) to get them. (got alot of other cool stuff too but, loved the LEDs.)

You know I can't believe that you and I had such heated and sometimes downright ugly debates back when you hated the E-class. I know you'll never love the coupes but glad you love (or al least really like) your w212. Although my nam de plume is steelgrey my coupe is black. First Benz, love the car!

Oh, yeah, I should have said "exclusive to the new E-Class", lol.

I know, I think back to those times as well, haha, I'm happy to say that I've lived, and learned.

I actually have more recently than before, started to like the Coupes. To me, the Coupes REALLY have to be optioned right, i.e AMG pack/P2/Pano/Etc. to really show off that design, as IMO, in very standard form, they just don't do it for me. But yeah, lately, I've seen a few Coupes that have made me almost question my own decision! My "beef" is mostly political, as I think M-B isn't being so "honest" in their pricing and marketing with the car, but whaddaya gonna do.

All in all, I couldn't be happier with the car, and yes, I VERY much LOVE it!!

Glad to see you're enjoying yours, and yes, once you catch the M-B bug, as I've found out, there's no going back.

To each his own

One reason why I went with the P1 package was that it did NOT have the LED hockey sticks. Much prefer the four round lights, but that's me.

HBerman,

Beautiful car! Love the straight line LED's.

Is that silver or steel gray?

Palladium Silver. The bluish tint comes from the reflection of the sky. I really haven't noticed this before today, but I'm usually driving the car, not photographing it. I guess that it's a feature of the paint! This color shows only minimal dirt which is why I've had my last three MB's in this paint. It's difficult at times to see the difference between clean and dirty (other than how much it shines when clean) unlike my E500 which was a beautiful black and showed everything on its surface almost immediately after washing. The car really does look luxurious in black (many have ordered it that way), but I couldn't go through the hassle of keeping it constantly clean.

I can go either way. I do like the way the hockey sticks seem to "float" in air at night. All the non sport E's in MN now have straight LED's. I like that the sport are different.

I think I like the straight line LED better than the hockey stick because it's integrated into the bumper design. The hockey stick on my car looks like an after thought that was glued on the mesh. That said, I still prefer the AMG sport package over the luxury model. It's a moot point in my case since the luxury model is not offered in Canada. MB did not want to confuse us with two models.

Straight line looks cool as hell but I feel like the hockey sticks make the E looks like its' own car and less like the S class.
