Boy, waiting for your car to come in stinks!

I am driving my wife NUTS! I have already bought my star grill replacement and am having the mesh painted matte black, 4 new rims for winter tires, roof spoiler, white side lights to replace the yellow ones (I think white looks better than yellow on steel gray), and polished chrome (silver) side mirror covers (those I may not put on).

Now all I need is the car! Not due until Xmas sometime.

LOL. That really is frustrating. Years ago, we were shopping for a new car, and when I came home with the 'Club' that was on sale - it was a good reason for an argument at home. 'Club' used to be a popular steering wheel lock. We ended up buying the car about 2 months after that.

Quick question Zinny - when you order a car, the dealer obviously have the upper hand because there is no inventory to get rid of. Do you have a hard time negotiating a good price vs something they can find in their lot, or trade it with another dealer's lot? My dealer got my car as dealer trade as he found one that i was looking for.

I am a member of USAA and they have a predetermined price. It is actually $650 above invoice MINUS a $2,000 rebate. Plus they gave me another $1,000 rebate certificate for open "Haus" Days, so I was pretty happy with my deal.

But to asnwer your question, prior to telling him I had USAA he was giving me 4.5% off the retail price, even on a car that I had to order.

waiting drove me nuts too, lol, I was driving a s40.....which in fact I moved the other day, and I have to say, those are some comfortable seats in that volvo!! lol...
but I was going nuts too during the wait, and buying accessories didn't help either because that would just make the wait more agonizing, lol!
I would imagine myself twisting and turning my command dial as I drove my s40....haha....

you'll be happier than "insert your favorite quote here" man.....no doubt......

I can understand your situation.

I ordered my first Mercedes for a European delivery through a special NATO discount plan available to Department of Defense and State Department personnel stationed in Europe --the cars were US models and the quota for delivery through the program was low. The wait time when I ordered was 7 months.

So, it could be worse.

Well I will be going through two waiting periods and some non-activity. The first waiting period is over as the deal fell through with the E350 I was to get last week. It fell through the DAY BEFORE I was to get the car. I explained a number of times regarding the leasing situation through U.S. Bank, so there is no need to get into details again. Now I have a six week hiatus before I order the E550 which is what I really want. After that it's back to the standard wait period for that car.

When I want something, I want it now. I buy cars every 1-2 years and I always do my research then go buy the car I want and drive home that day or maybe the following day. I waited a week for my W212 and it was like torture. There is now way I will do that again. We all know that you will enjoy your Christmas gift when it arrives, so for now I dont mind if you lustfully look at pics of my car.
