What are you doing with your old wheels?

Hi Heads:

was wondering who's doing what with their 'old' wheels?
for those of you/us that got rims or whatever.......

selling them? keeping them and getting more tires?
what are their value? and what about the AMG wheels
that came on sport packs? they're 'better' than the regular
wheels on lux models??

stay warm

I'm keeping mine, you never know what might happen, if I sell I might want to take them off or maybe I'll want to go back to stock. I have a 87 Porsche Cabrio and I put 90 turbo wheels on it, the car is an 11 on a scale of 10 (pretty perfect) with 50k miles now I'm going back to the stock wheels (just time to go back to traditional).

I would paint them black, glossy or matte.
Wish I had an extra set of wheels to play around with

Why do you have old wheels? I thought lifetime of wheels is equal to lifetime of car. Maybe you point to tyres? Thne yes, I dispose them.

That sounds about right, from a dealer. Check Ebay. I have seen brand new AMG take-offs with brand new tires for as low as $1600 with free shipping. Search Ebay for things like "18" W212 AMG" or "W212 18"". These 18" five star and AMG wheels are a dime a dozen on Ebay.

I've kept mine, and will most likely keep them. If i ever decide to sell the car, I can put them back on and they have plenty of tread left. It will make it much easier to sell.

Agreed unless you take a pass selling it on a forum like this where there are people who understand what you have done and that you really do take care/love your car, I agree with you 100% I'm also keeping mine, I think it will bring more with stock wheels.

Smart to keep the stock wheels (in case you ever sell, etc.), or at least, sell them to get some money back from them. After all, that price that you pay from the Dealer, is somewhat factored into the price of the car (they charge you for the wheels, and tires).

I never consider buying a car with aftermarket wheels usually. Also, I lost a sale from a nice older gentleman on my old W211 (told me that he's pay "top dollar" for a good one, i.e, wasn't about to haggle me), because after talking to his wife, she said she/they didn't feel comfortable buying a car with tinted windows/tinted taillights.

I guess I can't blame them, but damn! He talked to me, he heard first hand that I'm a charming and upstanding fellow. He even gave me some grizzled advice: "Take them off if you're serious about selling". It's like the guy got scared of me 'cause of those damn mods.

Are these 18" wheels all interchangeable among the W210, W211, and W212?
If can be popped on easily, there should be LOTS of good options, even from the E350 sport package guys there should be LOTS of supply out there?

Yup everything goes back to stock when you sell, maybe even the windows.
