2012 Mercedes E550 4matic
Vancouver, Canada
Hello All,
Since almost all the dealers in Vancouver,BC area are corporate(mercedes) owned they do not care much about giving discount on an e-class 550 that I am interested in buying
Would like to know if anybody out there have purchased a 2011/2012 e-class and how much discount they were able to get?
I am interested in v8 E-class and according to CarcostCanada on a full load 2011 E550 there is about $10,000 CDN markup(i.e. difference between invoice and MSRP).
Thanks in advance!

The most I am offered here in Vancouver area on a 2011/2012 E550 is 4% off of the MSRP. Please let me know if this is the best I would be able to get or if someone else was able to negotiate better than this in Vancouver area?
If you were able to get better than 4%, would you be able to refer me to that person?
Thanks,
Victor

If I lived in Canada I would not buy a US Benz. A Canadian Benz is a "real" Mercedes.
Savings off MSRP mean nothing when comparing markets in different countries.

Thanks for replying back.
Yes, I have looked into US car and with the same configuration as a canadian mercedes difference is around US$6500(subtracted 6.1% import duty) between MSRP to MSRP plus any discounts off over the MSRP. In the US as I have heard that they offer significant discounts. But then when I will haveto bring the car back to Canada this is following I would have to get done:
"Car must be modified to meet Canadian specs by a Mercedes-Benz Canada dealer and certified that standards are met. Mercedes-Benz Canada then issues a Letter of Compliance, and the same 4 year/80,000 km warranty as Canadian market cars. There is no corrosion warranty and no extended warranty is available. "
Also there will be around 6.1% import duty since the E-class is Made in Germany.
As I am interested in getting extended warranty I would rather get canadian version and also not go through the hassle of purchasing car in the US. But I also want to get discount, I guess I can not have both of the worlds.
Also do not want to have the mechanics go through the brand new car if I do not have to.
Are there any canadians on the board who were able to negitiate greater than 4%
Thanks,
Victor

Personally I would take it at 4%. The dealer (if truthful) told me their markup is 5%. But then I always overpay, so I am not the one to emulate

Thanks rovermark for reply, according to CarCostCanada website that I subscribe to says there is 10.5% markup over the invoice for the car I am considering. As u can see in Canada in order to get invoice prices of the cars we have to pay compare to US where invoice prices are available for free on several US websites. I guess it is due to small market in Canada but I still do not think it is fare to Canadians...and good enough reason....

I must have a look at the MB Canada web site but are there obvious external differences between US and Canadian Spec apart from the paperwork.
An obvious one between US and ROW is amber rear indicator LED's and lack of amber repeater in front bumper (the one that seems to be popular to replace with a clear lensed one on this site).

US and Canadian spec Benzs are generally very similar from an equipment perspective, though Canadian cars typically have more standard equipment.
