Let's move this to the official thread, I signed up the people on this list.

Check it out, remove yourself if you have changed your mind. We need 15 for the really good price.

One question. If the sprintbooster fails does it fail in a manner that reverts back to stock setting so you are not stranded?

There are three setting on it.
Clear = off,
Green = Fast Response,
Red = Super Fast Response.

You have the ability to toggle all three with the provided switch. You can easily turn it off, thus bypassing it. Hope that helps.

Thanks but doesn't really answer my question. If the unit fails, burns out, frys, etc. Etc. What happens to the car. Will the normal signal still pass thru the dead sprintbooster unit or r u dead in the water till the sprintbooster unit is removed?

The above test may be something for the manufacturer to test.

Good question...It would take all of 3 minutes to remove, but you would need a wrench with you.

Correct. Just thinking about worst case. I would for one to malfunction and send full throttle signal. Wouldnt that be fun? It's a merce...Uh, it's a Toyota. Hehehe.

Hi guys - sorry I missed this thread.

Thanks to Rich for posting links throughout the forum!

We'll check with Sprint Booster about it's fail-safe operation. Based on common sense, I'd have to assume that any failure would result in the unit allowing a standard pass-through, as if it was off. Of course, that's just how I would design it...

FYI, you can now order directly from our site using the coupon code MBgroupbuy. You'll receive the 15+ person price using that method. Code expires 2/23/11, so get to it!

Thanks,

Ken

Ken - are you going to have the compatibility issue with the 550 sorted our prior to ending the group buy? I plan to order once we have that confirmed and wouldn't want to miss out OM the discount.

Sprint Booster plans to have an answer for us soon. My suggestion is to get on the list. If it turns out to be incompatible, we'll take your name off without obligation.

I'll check on whether or not we'll be able to extend the code in case we don't have an answer first.

Ok - here's the plan...

W212 550 owners - if you want the group buy price, please add your name to the list. Be sure to state your year/ model to show it's a 550. If there is a compatibility issue, we'll remove you without obligation. If confirmation takes longer than the duration of the group buy, we'll extend a private coupon to you.

Hopefully this gets everyone taken care of!

Thanks,

Ken

Unfortunately, yes...

IMPORTANT UPDATE for W212 E550 Owners:

We've been told by Sprint Booster that we should consider the W212 E550 incompatible with the current units. They will not fit these cars.

I'm very sorry to pass on this disappointing news. We'll be updating our website to note the omission of the W212 E550.

Thanks so much for your understanding and support.

Ken

My Installation ...

Hey All,

I received my SprintBooster in the mail as expected and installed it last night in my E350. The installation was simple (also as advertised) and here are the steps I took:
  1. unsnapped the driver's side floor mat
  2. removed the two 13mm plastic nuts holding the accelerator in place
  3. unplugged in the existing cable and plugged in the SB adapter
    1. hint: plug the SB control cable into the SB before you install it onto the accelerator ...
  4. plug the existing cable into the SB adapter
  5. tighten the two 13mm plastic nuts holding the accelerator in place
    1. hint: don't over tighten these as they are plastic and could be easily stripped
  6. hide the SB control cable along the route to where you want to mount the switch
  7. resnapped the driver's side floor mat in place
  8. took my MB out for a test drive
Overall installation took less than 15 minutes, mostly spent trying to decide where to place the SB switch ...

The ONLY unhappy portion of the install was the included adhesive tape to hold the SB switch in place didn't stick too well to the MB plastic center console.

Performance-wise, I am very pleased with the change in throttle response. I found a deserted stretch of road near my home and tested the three settings along the same route each time. Overall, I think the green setting (SB on, normal mode) will be my normal daily-drive setting. I'll reserve the red mode (SB on, race mode) for those times I want to embarrass another V6 driver off the line

Sam - Great write up and spot on. When I first installed mine I found a deserted area and did the same test. I also leave mine in green for everyday driving. Enjoy.

Only MBs - the best or nothing
Sam, I assume your tests were with transmission in D and no paddle shifting used.

Did you by chance try paddle shifting accelaration prior to SB installation? I know that car definetely responds to paddle shifting better than just when left in D.

If you did was it more like with SB on with green light or with red light? Or was SB even with green light "faster"/ more enjoyable that paddle shifting.

TIA
