take deal or wait 2012 model?

Hi everyone!

I purchased E350 in October 2009 and than 9 months later I was relocated to another country and had to sell it (for 41000). Lost more than 9000 at that time.

Anyway, my relocation didn't continue as long as I planned it to be and I moved back to US and this time I decided to lease E350.
Was at my dealer in Miami today and who offered lease with 4000 down and 650 monthly payments - this is best what I could get from them.

Came home and found out that new 2012 model will have new engine with 20 more HP and of course some other options.

How do you think, when the new 2012 will be available for sale? And if I wait, will I be able to get the same deal for that car?

any suggestion?

thank you!

Is that $650 before Taxes? And is it a P1 car?

As to whether to wait or not, that's a tough one. I will say, in about 3-5 months, when 2012's start really rolling out, they probably won't be going for such bargains, but the leftover 2011's will be going for great deals.

If you have the patience, then wait, as your options will be better and more lucrative. If you really want the car now though, and want to experience it and its perks for 4 or so months enough that it's worth whatever savings or options you may get after that time, then go for it.

thank's K-A! its P1, 33 months lease and 650 is including taxes. I think its not bad, in total will lose about 25k for 3 years. I think I will lose the same or maybe more if I will buy the car and will decide to change it in 3 years, and usually I try to change cars every 3-4 years. thank you for your suggestions!

If not having the newest model is a concern, I would wait for the 2012. Whether you choose a 350 or a 550, you will get a boost in power and torque, color I/C, likely a few wheel design choices, and most importantly, the benefits and bragging rights of having the latest. There will certainly be deals on the '12's, just like there were deals on the '11's and the '10's before that. These updates aren't enough to suddenly allow the dealers to magically charge and sustain premiums, except for maybe the first few weeks of release - then, it is business as usual.

If you are in need of a car today and can not or choose not to wait for whatever reason, the current model is a fine car. The new engines won't render the older versions worthless and they will experience the same general pattern of depreciation based upon mileage, condition and model year more so than based upon newer engines that are in newer models. The newer engines won't make the older versions any slower, except in comparison to the newest release. It will still be a Benz and you will likely realize decent savings, but won't get the car free as it isn't discarded material. The same will be the case next year with the '12's, and the following year with the '13's and each subsequent year thereafter. It is the way the car business and consumer patterns work and is not exclusive to M-B or any other make.

If it were me, I'd wait, just to have the newest new car (of the two) possible.

If you were buying the car,I would wait until Oct. for delivery but order the car now to get first production. However if I were leasing,I would get the car now since it is not a keeper. As far as equipment goes, I would get P2 because I love all the toys.

New engine, other new drive train components. Reliability? M-B is not known for reliability for existing models, except for "E" CLass and one of the SUV's. Do you want to take a chance? Even if under warranty, time lost, frustration, etc.
Will 2012's be that much different, other than engine and a few tweaks?
I ordered the 2010 instead of getting a 2009 because it had a proven drive train, but a new exterior and interior and several new features.
Hope this does not complicate your life too much.

'11 350 4matic - '14 Stingray: Gone, BMW 530i, Porsche 944 Turbo, Porsche 356, Mitsubishi 3000GT
All really good points for both sides. For what it's worth I would wait, that way if the new 12 model totally rocks...your ready to go. If your not that impressed with the newer model, you will get a real sweet deal on an '11. Win-Win!!!
