My E Class came with an iPOD adapter cable but not with a USB cable so I bought a USB cable at an MB dealer for $55 (probably could have gotten it cheaper on the web).I don't know if that hookup *charges* devices or if you can control any devices through it because I've only hooked up a USB flash drive to it.However, the MP3's on that flash drive (32GB) played nicely.

It's a Universal Consumer Interface (UCI) to USB cable. According to my dealer, the MB P/N is 001-276-7049 and sells for $55.
Inside your glove box is a interface connection that's called the Universal Consumer Interface. The car comes with a cable that supports two technologies but you have to buy the one that supports USB.
I searched the Internet for this cable and didn't find any source where I'd save significant money. Just call your dealer's parts department to see if they stock it. They might have to order it.

For those that have the iPod cable in the car, you can plug our AnyStream into the iPod cable and wirelessly stream music from ANY bluetooth enabled device to the car. It is inexpensive and solves part of this problem for a lot of people.

The point of the product is for cars (or ANY device really) that already have a dock connector or cable. It allows you to stream music wirelessly from ANY bluetooth device (not just Apple products) to any car (or home audio etc) via its Apple iPod Connection.
Many of our clients have the Mercedes iPod connection, but don't want the hassle of reaching over to the glovebox, extending cables, etc. They like the idea of just getting in the car and streaming music from the Android, iPhone, Blackberry, iPad or whatever without plugging in at all.

Only some 11 models with certain media packages can. It is fairly rare at this point. Of course our biggest range of clients and largest users of this forum are cars 2 - 11 years old. Pre 11 models can not stream at all. So the product is perfect (and inexpensive) for them.

2. Car to 3.5mm Jack - AUX Cable
3. Car to USB Port (i plug my pen-drive to listen to music from it)

As well. Both wagons and the cabrio
On all cars it displays the artist, song and album. You can only move forward or backwards on songs using the command control, no access to an index.
One thing about the USB is that it will not charge an iPhone/iPad which really sucks if the MB iPod cable is being used by another device.
