AM i a dork.............?
Hey dudes and dude'ets. since the last time i posted, i have gotten my new car, a 2011 E, i love this car soooo much, but there is a sort of a problem. the E is a great car, but i think i screwed up a bit.... i have noticed alot of people on this forum have the E with the LED daytime running lights, and PP2. i feel kinda like a dork, since my car doesn't have have all the features that could have been on it. I'm very grateful that my parents even bought me a Mercedes for a first car. its just since i dint have all the packages my car seems a bit primitive. anyway the dealer had a 30 day exchange thing going on, but thats gone too.so should i just trade my E in and put money on a new E with PP1 and 2? (BTW i only have PP1 on my current car) so what do you guys think? also I'm not trolling or anything, i have noticed on my last thread i made, someone posted saying i was a troll...........

if you have the opprotunity, get what makes you happy. You only live once.
I've got a P2 and one of the coolest things I cant get enough of is watching the headlights auto-adjust themselves then they turn on... sooooo cool.
On another note, an E for a first car is super duper lucky in my book. I had to get my own first car.. an 84 Pontiac Fiero that I had to start with a screwdriver for the first two months until i saved enough to get the ignition fixed

You need nothing else than what the car already has, unless you have money for mods. Worry about new things next time you get a car, but once you've made a choice (or a choice has been made for you), stop thinking about it.
Those additional little things don't really enrich your life. PP2 (whatever that is) is only marginally better than non PP2. Save your feelings of ambition for large changes, not marginal ones.

when kids have things handed to them............they're not the same...
to the poster: I'd let it ride man, enjoy the car that was given to you.....go pick up girls or something, don't worry about the P2....
that does not make you a dork..........you do know what a 'dork' is right?

Leave it. If I were your Father I'd be pissed if my son traded in the Benz I just bought him. You should be ecstatic for receiving a 60k car from your folks!! Forget about it and enjoy and no, you're not a dork.

You are a lucky guy. My first car was a hand-me-down 1977 Chevy Caprice "woodie" station wagon. I did not drive a Mercedes until I could afford a used 1986 190E 2.3-16. It was 5 years old at the time and 10 years after getting my license. Boy, was I proud. I kept that car the longest of any of my cars--nearly 10 years. I could not get rid of it as it was my first Mercedes.
Thenewbie, trust me, you will have plenty of opportunity in your lifetime to get whatever car in whatever configuration (OEM or aftermarket) that you want. Be proud of what you have and grateful to your parents for it.

There are a lot of options on the P2 that can be costly to replace if you ever get out of warranty. I purchased my car w/ plans on keeping it longer than 5 years. If one of those parts in P2 went out after my warranty expired, it would cost thousands to replace/fix.
And YES. If you gotta ask if you are a dork...

You only live once. Live Happy. Oh - with your OWN hard earned money. Not your parents. Once you buy your next MB with your own paycheck, do what the heck you want to do with it.
When they buy that beach house for you, make sure you get ocean front and NOT ocean view. Both are beach houses. Ocean view = P1. Ocean front = P2.
Sorry. Do not mean to be arrogant - not my style. Really. Since you asked, my opinion is to enjoy whatever you have and not regret what you dont. This attitude will keep you happy forever.

I mostly agree with everyone: Do what makes you most happy...as long as it is not a substitute for real happiness.

To answer your question, "Are you a dork?", which seems to have gone unaswered...
Yes...you are. Just enjoy the car and count your blessings.

I was planning on getting stuff like LED License Plate lights, etc., but in reality, I don't think it's really that big a deal, nor will it make my car more desirable all in all. The best car is the one you appreciate the most.

A spoiled dork!! Your going to spend your life chasing "what ifs" instead of just enjoying what you have. I think some parents may be to blame in this. I can't imagine buying my kid a flippin mercedes for his 1st car. But guaranteed if I did it would of been a P2.

Don't worry about it. I got P1 also. Get HID regular lights 5k or 6k and led city lights and your lights will look better than the P2 Xenons. Cost about $2-400 bucks installed at the most.
