I say this because 30-40% of the vehicles that we mod locally are leased.

I've learned that the venders online here will say just about anything to get our dollars.........buy and beware.......MOD and beware......
I would never dump money into a car I had to give back......
leasing has always seemed really dumb to me.......it isn't yours you know?
but I doubt those leasing ever come to that realization......
kind of like a house: sure you live there and mow; but the bank owns it.....

I guess you really like the W212 E class. You've got two E350's- you can run you're own private taxi business. lol.

darn, I just got my June production E250AV and it seems my car is a half-way house! Got the new color screen inside the speedo, but still have the previous COMAND with the PCMIA slot!

Agreed. M-B could have finished the new one with something more elegant than an abrupt hole. It's the details that count!

I'd still rather have the new 4.5 though, but hey, we can cling to our little areas of supremacy!

The new color display looks really cool. It doesn't bother me as much that my early '11 W212 doesn't have the color display but the fact that the display is not a "FULL" circle. The "FULL" circle display looks so much better and proportionate. Why did MB designed the early ones with the cut off on the bottom is beyond me.

I don't get it. Both displays utilize the full circle.

The iPod interface is now in the center console and there is BT audio streaming and album artwork for the interface in the COMAND center. I'll post pics ASAP:

I got the car with 8 miles and a MSRP of $55,350 or something like that for $47,000 out the door and $399+ $35 taxes/month for a 24 month lease w/7500 miles/year. I'll probably drive around 12,000 miles, but I'll just pay for the additional miles at the end of the lease.

I was going to get a 2012 C250, but got a great deal on the E350, so when my ordered car comes in, I won't buy it. In my eyes, the only things I lost were the new steering wheel, Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Bixenons. Hey, I still got an E class, which is WAYYY NICER!

Can you share what dealership you got your car?

Regarding the whole "Full circle" thing, for those with the new color display, we no longer have the instrument cluster cut off at the bottom. All 2010s and most 2011s have the following instrument cluster with the bottom of the circle cut off so that it can say "mph" on the bottom:
http://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/DigitalA...y-Int-0004.jpg

However, if you look at my original post, you can see that the bottom is no longer cut off and that the instrument cluster is a full circle.

Otherwise keep in mind the biggeast caveat with the MSD Leases is that they are not combinable with subsidized Money Factors. So although it worked out well in leasing the E BTC, not every car will work this way, and not everyone has the extra $5,000 to hand over for a few years. Any model with MFs in the mid .00100's or lower, the math will work better taking advanatge of the subsidized rate. And you get to keep your cash liquid (and riding the rollercoaster of the market like everyone else).

Golfster--the cost for going over the alloted miles in a lease is 25 cents a mile if you are with MB Credit. You can call them and re-do your milage. It will raise your payment but that is better than going over your limit by 18,000 miles over 4 years--figuring the difference between 12000 a year and 7500 a year x 4 years. That comes out to $4500 you have to hand over to MB Credit at the end of your lease. Better to spread it out over the 4 years--Maybe $100 a month more. No matter what, never roll a lease with high miles over to a new lease as it raises the cost of the new lease a lot!
Congrats on the new EClass--I've owned 4 of them and love them all!

Leasing is not for everyone but for people who own businesses, especially corporations, it makes perfect sense. Remeber that unlike buying, you are correct, you never own the car--but you do get to write off the payment, upkeep, gas and oil and taxes on payment each month. So, hypothetically, if you are in the 40% tax bracket, your payment is only 60% percent of what you pay the vendor--i.e. $600 payment equals net $360 payment! Any legit write off is a bonus these days as otherwise you would be paying the extra taxes on it. True, you can depreciate the car(s) in your buisness but leasing is much cleaner. Upside is also the low downpayment (usually tax and first year license) and a new car every 3 years that you have not dumped a lot of money in no matter how many miles you have on it! Just a business owner's opinion.

To anyone who goes over on a Lease, here's a tip: Several months before your Lease is up (and I'm talking before you qualify for a "Pull Forward" thingy), try and trade the car in to a Dealer for a new one. Find an aggressive Dealer who will pay your current car off (even fight for some positive equity in it, which you may have towards the end of the Lease), and obviously use the new car as incentive to them to just take the current one off your hands if the deal looks enticing enough.

AKA, if you're over on mileage, don't just wait until the turn in date.

Or, if you do wait until the turn in date, go to many Dealers and find one who is aggressive enough to "write off/swallow" your overage in miles, in order to get you into a new car. I've heard of people who've had about 20K miles over, find Dealers who would "eat them".

Of course there are some dealers that do understand MSD's, but in our city, the infiniti, BMW and Mercedes dealers (finance managers) were all unaware that their leases offered MSD's or why they were an excellent value for customers who could afford them. Perhaps it's a southern thing I was the first customer in 5 years to use MSD's when I leased the e350 last month.

You are correct, MSD's sometimes don't work as well as "subsidized rates"...but you have to run all the numbers to see what works the best....it's a mistake to just accept the dealer's assertion that MSD's are a bad deal or 33 months is the best deal.

Where there are no subsidized rates, MSD's generally pay you an effective yield of 10% or more on your money. I guess you have to decide if keeping that money in the market or elsewhere is a better use of that money....I kind of like a guaranteed 10%.

I received this note today from mercedes.....

you can place an order for the 4.5 manual (brochure # P-6515-6912-13) through the Customer Assistance Center. Please call 888-454-9906 to connect with them."

I suggest that those with comand 4.5 get a copy of this manual as well as the updated voice manual which I am still trying to locate. BTW, the first 2012 e350 at my dealer came with the incorrect comand 4.0 manuals, so at least some 2012 buyers will most likely need to order this manual as well.

Well...I leased my E350 Bluetec yesterday and did the 10 MSD's combined with the autopay for a 0.00115 money factor (A1 tier at .00195 - .0007 - .0001) and 78% residual for a 24 months lease with 7,500 miles/yr. As someone else mentioned, you can restructure your lease before you reach the 50% of your lease contract if you think you need more miles. My dealer also mentioned that I was the 2nd person in 5 years to use the MSD's technique. He was also surprised about my knowledge of the mid year change to the COMAND unit and joked about offering me a job at the dealership.
Enjoy your ride!
