Wow...sorry to hear of all your troubles. Im thinking you and your ride need a good blessing.

As for replacing the front windshield, its probably going to be several hundred. Stick with OEM MB windshield because its glass comes coated with something which the rain just beads off. Cheapy replacements wont have this. Also, the installer will have to work around the rear view mirror mount which controls the rain-sensor wipers.

Safelite just quoted approx. 1400 dollars for installation using OEM rate...thanks PHML for the response

 

It should be covered by your auto insurance, comprehensive coverage.

a rock ruined my week old windshield about a month ago.....
I had it replaced at the dealer for just over 1000........that came out of my pocket too.....
but whatever, it's only money right??

Are you blessed with this kind of luck on all your cars? That's one heck of a string of bad luck.

Insurance very often covers cracked/broken windshields without any deductible...check your policy. I would not mention how the damage occurred....sounds to me like a rock flew up from the road.

If it makes you feel any better this is what happened with my E Clas within the year I had it.
Bear in mind I had bought this car from a friend at work who had taken immaculate care of it during his ownership. It was my goal to keep the car in the pristine condition that he had sold it to me in.

a) While it was sitting in my driveway, a branch from a neighbors tree broke and landed on my roof and slid down the side of the car

b) Traffic came to a sudden stop on the highway one morning. I managed to get stopped as did the car behind me. While we are sitting there I hear a commontion then I hear the car being pelted with debris then a sudden jolt. All this was a result of a girl who couldn't stop in our lane swerving right and bouncing off of a tractor trailer then rechoceting back hitting cars behind me and her wheel that the tie rod was broken to dragging along my bumper and left rear wheel. The left rear window had been etched by the debris as well as parts of the rear trunk

3) One day I'm at work and I get pinged on my computor "Do you have a Black Mercedes?" I reply yes. The guy tells me the we need to go to the parking lot. I had always parked the car along a curb on one side next to the passenger side of the car next to me to minimize the probability for door dings. That more that spot had a mound of snow and ice. Well this idiot thought that he could climb over it with his Suburu Outback and was now wedged against my bumper.

4) One morning I had to fly out of town for work and got to the airport late I jump out of my car at the unloading zone and grab my bag and my girlfriend drives off with my car. As I go through security I realize I have the key to the car and the car was running when I left because I had keyless go. So I call Mercedes and ask what will happen and they say as long as she doesn;t shut it off it will be ok. The plane lands and I have a messege from my girlfiend on my cell. " I ok your car is ok but you need to send me a noterized letter so that I can get your call out of the police impound lot. Turns out Mercedes servive advisor was full of it (big surprise there) and the car shut down on her when traffic came to a stop on the highway. Luckily a cop pulled up behind her and helped her out immensely. But it was raining of of course in Mercedes FU attitude to who ever was driving the car without the key wouldn't allow her to put up the window. Again the cop being a kind soul covered the window with a trash bag but of course the car being locked up driveline wise had to drug up onto the flatbed.

5) One snowy night as I pulled into the driveway I the car slid a little as I turned into the garage I slid a drug the bumper along a baby potty chair which made a nice scratch.

All these events coupled with unsuccessfully trying to get the car to function flawlessly while under warranty then having to make an out of pocket repair while under extended warrenty led me to sell the car.

Guess what happened to the guy who bought my car on the way home?

Yep somebody rear ended him. I've also heard that the car got hit since then.

In hindsight I should have been more chilled out about the whole thing and not sold the car.
