Just wanted to post another option for those that want the LED look for their license plates but not that super bright after market look.
I chose to replace the bulbs instead of getting the entire LED housing. I got the LED bulbs from precision LED and these do not trigger the bulb out warning.

i actually had some of these laying around from our q5. I did a full led interior on that and realized the bulbs were the same when i was installing a full led housing i had purchased. I been happy with the quality of these bulbs and best of all they don't trigger any errors on our audi and now on the e350.
love the LED bulbs, have them on both cars.......it's a great look!
you can see the plate area from 200 feet! hehe, but that isn't why I did it....
just like the bright, fresh look

Once again, exactly.
The "LED Flashlight on my License Plate" isn't a good look IMO, and the aftermarket lights are usually overkill. I can't get too good an idea from the O/P's picture, but they seem too distracting-from-the-car-design and bright IMO.
I'd like to know more about the OEM LED Plate lights too, as they aren't brighter, but they have a cooler/fresher hue to them. I feel like I read somewhere that the new OEM LED Plate bulbs are non compatible with the old halogens, and will throw codes, but I might be making that up.....
Edit: Yeah, way too bright (O/P's picture) IMO. It makes the rear taillights and overall cars profile actually look duller/dimmer which is counter-productive. To each their own.
The brightness comes downs to the number of LEDs on the bulb wedge. For less brightness, look for a bulb with less LEDs on it. Something like the one in this link

Attached are some pics I took tonight.
Is that hard to replace it? How to get to the bulbs? Thanks in advance!

[QUOTE=kalt;5408635]Thanks for the link, i went with a similar bulb and i am very satisfied with the results. They look similar to the factory LEDS on my CLS.
Hello,
That looks great! Can you please provide me with the link to the exact bulbs you purchased? Any codes?
I tried some on amazon but they’re too bright. Trying to keep it very subtle as possible and make it look OEM. I got some LEDs and they’re very bright to the point that they shine onto
the ground

"Do you know why I pulled you over son? It's those plate lights, they're just do darn bright!"
