Cant find an E350 4matic with a P2 Lighting Package?

Hi all,

I'm in NYC and I'm looking to trade in my 2010 GLK 350 for a 2012 E 350 4matic. I'm Running into some brick walls because I can't seem to find one with the lighting package anywhere. I also want it with the AMG wheel package, which hasn't been a problem finding. But this P2 package is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I mean is it uncommon for people to get HID headlights these days?

When I was searching for a e350 there was 1 east of the Mississippi with a P2 package and everything else that I was looking for except leather. I wound up buying a e550 with a P1 for a good price. I'll just put in some HID lights.

i cant imagine spending all that dough on an E and not having P2... just me. but i know why dealers order that way. price point.... P1 only is a deal breaker for me. id rather suck it up and order one and end up spending more... but im sure if you have time to look one will pop up. also your closer dealer could work a dealer trade if someone has one somewhere else.

I 100% agree! I can't imagine picking up a new car that's over 60K and it doesn't have HID's. Makes no sense to me...

How bout I was actually looking into the new ML, and the lighting package is on back order with no ETA in sight! I just don't see getting a new Benz without a lighting package. Just my 2 cents...

I share your frustration. The local Mercedes dealers typically order the E350s with P1 only and MB-tex. If you don't want to special order you end up with a $60K car that has plastic seats and inferior lights.

All the competitive dealers (BMW, Audi, Lexus, Infiniti, etc.) have cars on the lots with leather, adaptive xenons, heated steering wheel, etc. - options that everyone in the northeast wants. If you went into a (BMW, Audi, Lexus, Infiniti) dealer and asked for a car with plastic seats and halagon lights they would laugh at you. - but you could probably special order it.

I read from the W204 (Coupe) sub-forum that Mercedes has a lighting package shortage, due to the recent Japan earthquake that affected some suppliers. I don't know if that also affects the W212 lighting packages?

Regards,

Regards,
Very good possibility! The ML lighting package is on back order right now.

I agree! When I got my Audi and Porsche Cayenne there wasn't even a discussion about leather or HID's...it was already on board!

I must say I'm a little disappointed, I know Benz is trying to keep costs down and be more competitive! But I will not even entertain the idea of getting anything that is $60k or better and doesn't include real leather, lighting, etc! The whole debate of MB Tex vs leather is a moot one for me as well...I happen to like the scent of new leather in a car.

Yes its unanimous,,HID's or bust. Sean I searched within 100 mile radius in the NY area and found 5 p2's most with under 20k miles..Im sure you'll hit one. Quite honestly I've had mine 1 month and it appears the end of the month is prime time to get a nice deal you can live with...incentives and all

Looks like the competition knows they need those frills to sell their cars while M-B will outsell them (in the case of the E-Class) without them.

I agree about P2, don't settle for P1! I didn't have a problem finding well equipped P2 cars off the Dealer lots at all, both times I purchased a W212. The Option is very reasonably priced and you get a great bang for your buck. It's unfortunate that most Dealers don't order them in some locations it seems, but blame the consumer for not caring about even the most obvious details.

...or,

The P2 equipped cars FLY off the lot as soon as they are unloaded.

Don't settle. Get the Active Bi-Xenon lighting.

The E-Class with P2 looks like a whole different animal than the much weaker P1 look at night! Just so sharp and hot in comparison.

I want to thank everyone for they're input on helping me find my E...

As of now I have 2 dealerships on Long Island searching for me, and I'm going to visit Ray Catena tomorrow morning and hook up with the gentleman that got me my GLK. Hopefully I strick Gold!
I refuse to settle on a car without 4matic and the P2 and AMG package.

I also have color choices in order.
1- White with Black
2-Palladium Silver with Black
3-Silver with Black

If no dice with my search, I will most likely just wait out the winter with my GLK and see what's around in Spring 2012.

As of 12/2010, M-B HID's have 5K temps (up from 4300 previously).

IMO some 6K's can get too blue-cheesy, I love the crisp white with blue hue of the 5K's. I believe they're supposed to be the closest to actual daylight (what's important to your eyes when it comes to illumination and strain) if I'm not mistaken.

I agree with everyone - looked at a E550 coupe. Can't believe a car with a base of $57000 does not come with HID. Have to spend $6400 more for P2 to get them. I will not deal with adding them to a car without. And the standard "leather" is not much better that the MB-tex plastic. For the price they charge this is unacceptable.

Hi Sean,

You've probably already gone this route, but just in case...

Using cars.com, put in a search criteria of MB and then further define the search to cars in the $60 to $65K range. I start with "all miles" from home base and then just focus on those near my area. The total list is long, but you may find a few that will work. The list doesn't specify P2 in most cases, but I then read the discriptions and look for "keyless go" or "bi-xenon." I saw a beautiful diamond white in Maryland that way, but don't know if your dealer will transfer a car in from that far. I saw a few others that might qualify - one or two in up state NY.

I used this method to find my car and to confirm the dealer wasn't pulling my leg about what was/wasn't available.

I hope that helps and good luck with the search and eventual find.

Thanks KA,,I know what you mean,,however,,aftr a lil time they get to the color you describe anyhow with accumulated use..I personally dont mind Blue ,,but when you get to purple and beyond,,,thats cheesy to me
I guess if my car went into svce on 11/09 I have 4300..I got it.

Sorry for the off topic stuff Sean,,good luck,,you'll get your car I know it.
